The Flying Machine

Last night, in the darkness
I found a beautiful machine.
And perhaps I was a princess
Who could not be induced to return home,
But I in a golden dress,
And the shining clockworks of the machine,
Were the only things that lit the empty night.
I came to understand the machine,
And holding onto it I rose from the towertop,
And beneath us the buildings glowed
With lamplight or raging fires
Below my hanging feet the night was heavy,
Above my grasping hands my machine fluttered,
Purred a clockwork insect-song:
Oh By and By
The End is Nigh
Bye, Bye, Bye
And in the course of time the princess rose upwards
Until she learned all the strange secrets
Of the outer world,
And of the clockwork attractors
By which the universe turns.

about me
The world is a puzzle. Everything we need is already here; we put the pieces together one way, we find misery, we put them another way, we find pleasure, this arrangement of pieces makes God, this makes Beauty, this one makes Hell. Therefore all things we could possibly believe are true.
