Turn me on I'm a radio and Blue and the song BOTH SIDES NOW!!!, heard her new version? Then there is the song Just Ice, sex kills. Oh the circla game and Woodstock my personal national anthem whether you were there at that event or not, to me it is a song that touches my heart while others may enjoy Amazing Grace,or House of the Rising sun. I wonder alot about why certain peoples music hit your soul to the core.Well Joni is the woman i could almost listen to atleast 4 times a week. I even own a PBS video of her speaking of her life love of music and Oh her art!!!! Vangogh is jealous beyond the grave...... To come in from the Cold is another song, a song about ned love and hot desire.Let's get back to Justice or just-ice, and the oil spills siome of the lyrics are just so damndable full of truth that bittersweet free speech of what happened in our lives , those that had such an in tuneness with the sixties and never out grew the idea of One race: HUMAN. and how there will be timeless Joni keeping our history much like Bob Dylan.. And so I hope you have had the ear to enjoy Joni and the heart to feel the caring and awareness she has taught us in her songs. Our lessons are just that a lesson that will bring you into growth and even to be more passionate about living. We have Jewl here from a town near me in Alaska but my heart will always tell me that Joni is my song Diva!. So to wherever you are tonight Joni , I thank you... and may clouds not block your sun, shine on people, look at love from both sides now it is learning, it is everything to ponder, and to say from win and loose it is still life's illusions I recall I really Don't know life at all.... but I do know there is enough love for all of us,feel that you are loved, and do not let them pave anymore paradises for a parking lot.... We need the trees. Woodstock get back to the land and get my soul free. We are stardust we are golden and we got to get ouselves back to the garden... Happy spring to all!

"there are still more reasons why I love (her)..."
I can't begin to tell you how much pleasure Joni Mitchell's music has afforded me over the years. She's such an amazing songwriter that my love of the lyricism of the words to her songs has influenced the ways I stretch to express myself in my own writing. The lyrics of her songs alone have made me appreciate what an art form they are ALONE! The fact that she's able to fit beautiful melodies to them AND communicate the emotional depth of her perceptions by her a rich artistic performances, full of nuance using her voice at all the "right" places just makes me go weak in the knees! Still, faithfully follows her muse to unearth waves of delight with her instrumental accompaniment on THREE different instruments.

I found a list of the top 100 acoustic guitar players in the world expecting it to be heavily male dominated. The thought never crossed my mind that the musical snobs who create lists like this would even THINK to include her. Yet she appeared prominently at about number 60, if I recall correctly. I was just checking to see if they had included singer-songwriter David Wilcox, who is an amazing acoustic guitar player in many different tunings. He placed at number 89. They credited Joni Mitchell with having used and or created 60 different tunings of the guitar (at last count).

On top of all this, she sings like nobody's business. I've been playing her first six albums (regularly) for over thirty years. I've been blessed to see her perform live three times over the years.

Though, I'm not a fan of her jazz stuff (with some exceptions) and other genres her music touches on that I don't even know if there are proper names for, I she covered Both Sides Now a few years ago so soulfully that it sounds like an entirely new song.

She is a gem and the very definition of a diva.

Thanks for your post about her. I never get to talk about her amazing talent. I haven't known anyone who's also a fan of hers in many years.
