Rachel is a consummate artist and an inspiration to us all. As a person she is just as wonderful as as she is on stage. This fan hopefully captures some of her exotic style and delightful spirit. The triangle pattern is done in silver leaf by the way - it shines (just like Rachel!). This is one of my most recent geisha paintings. In case you didn't know this is the first time any of these geisha paintings have been shown publically - I thought I would just bypass the whole gallery scene which has gotten rather stale lately. Ho hum......this site is much more dynamic. A few days ago I learned that a cosmetics company is interested use these designs on their products.

Some of you may wonder how I got started painting geisha. I began them in the 1970's, inspired by the work of American artist Masami Teraoka who, at that time, did some of the most beautiful geisha paintings ever. Since then, he has changed to a different style of painting, but for me, my inspiration was in his early paintings which looked just like woodblock prints. I am new to this space, so please be patient with me as it will take a bit of time to learn the ropes.
