The Purpose of Life

"Don't ask yourself what the world needs; ask yourself what makes you come alive. Then go out and do that thing. Because the world needs people who have come alive."

My Travels:

In the summer of 2007, I went to Egypt for 2 & 1/2 weeks. I went on the trip organized by Scheherezade Imports of Rockville, VA. I had a wonderful time & would definitely go on another Lucy trip! Some highlights of the trip were taking a dance class with Khairya Mazen, the last surviving Ghawazee, dancing with Memo's daughters after a dinner in their home (Memo is a friend of Lucy's), seeing the Goddess Nut in living color on the ceiling of a tomb in the Valley of the Kings, the hot air balloon ride over the Valley of the Kings, laughing hysterically as Annette, a fellow tour participant & gifted actress, imitated Dina, Randa Kamel, & other famous stars, & having a picnic of falafal & Miranda soda with my friend, Monica, at 9pm at a park in Aswan with all the other Aswanis.

In July 2006, I visited Yosemite, Yellowstone, the Grand Tetons, the Grand Canyon, Arches, Monument Valley, Zion Canyon, & Bryce Canyon. Camping all the way. What a great trip! Did a lot of hiking, went white water rafting on the Snake River in Wyoming & took a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon. I REALLY like Southern Utah & will be back to visit again in more depth. Monument Valley was my favorite place, Arches 2nd, & Zion Canyon 3rd.

In 2001, I went to Turkey on Eva Cernik's 3 week trip. If you want to travel in Turkey, I highly recommend Eva's trip. In 2003, I went to Morocco, another fascinating place. I found the mix of Arabic & African culture very interesting.

Next on the agenda: Mendocino Middle Eastern Music & Dance Camp & San Francisco in August 2009. Costa Rica, in'shallah, in the Fall of 2009 & Alaska in 2010!
