about me
I was born in U.K and spent my childhood there. I moved to Bermuda, then to South Africa, where I am now living in beautiful Cape Town. I have danced my entire life (I think I started dancing in my cot !). I made my first stage appearance at age 2, as a 'flower' or so I was told by my mother, who was also stage-struck. I have studied ballet, tap, modern, gymnastic, Flamenco, ballroom - especially Latin American -and now belly dance. My current passion is Gypsy Caravan tribal style belly dance. I now teach belly dancing too. When I am not dancing, I work as a teacher of speech, drama and creative movement at a local school. I love music and art.
I am also a Reiki Master and practise Reiflexology and Massage part-time.
I love wildlife and am interested in nature conservation. We have an amazing heritage of flora and fauna here in the Cape , which we must work to preserve for future generations.
In my busy life, I manage to find time to attend Yoga and Tai Chi classes regularly, and to walk on the beach and swim. I need to live near the ocean - I think it's in my blood. I was born close to the sea, and am never very happy when far from the ocean. When I go down to the beach I watch the waves, and notice that their movement is like 'our dance through life'.

Watched the film 'The Mayan Calendar' today. The calendar itself is impressive. The very fact that the Mayans were able to make such accurate astronomical observations and predictions so long ago, is a cause for wonder. However, I noted that we should be very careful of impressing our 21st Century European ideas onto a calendar which was created by people who were neither European nor living in this century, but came from a vastly alien culture, and thus possibly had entirely different interpretations of events unfolding. They may, indeed, have had the knowledge of evolution, as shown by this film, but I feel that as we 'cannot get inside their heads' it is incorrect to state that they could have possessed prior knowledge of every event of any import up to and including the present day and into the future. Could they in reality have had prior knowledge of World War 2 or 9/11 ? I really doubt it. Do not forget that these same Mayans were the race whose belief system called for the unfortunate captives of war to be thrown down the pyramid steps, so their blood could appease the angry gods. I am sure that they wished to acquire the knowledge of how the future of the planet would unfold, and, like many other ancient civilizations, they studied the skies for signs pointing the way into the future. Their astronomical expertise was amazing, and the meshing of their lunar and solar calendars a feat of awesome mathematical genius. However, having said that, we should be very cautious of our interpretations of their studies, as like their alien belief system we do not understand why their calendar was so complex or so pivotal to their lives. It certainly was important in a religious context, but were they predicting the future of the planet ? We can only GUESS at this distance in time.
