take a step inside my head
WTF... the system is screwed.
All right...in the past few days I've really discovered something about those the government hires. OMG... does the government even want to stop identity theft... really? While I'm not a paraniod person like most on this subject and while I am and plan to be an innocent citizen; but honestly do they really want to stop the chances of it? Yesterday I was state transfering my liscense. The DMV sent me in circles to get forms of identity. Like first my untility didn;t have my FULL name on it (it was abbreviated). I was told that I could use my checkbook as form of identification. So I went home and since my checks have my old address on them (since I just graduated), I figured my lease renewal should safice. So I have that, go back, and then am told that I need the rental offices signature. Okay... I leave, get a signature of the rental manager, go back, and am told that I need the actually landlord's signature. My landlord own's property all over mass... what's the chances that he'll be in the office? Luckily he is and I return; but all the while I'm thinking you can use a checkbook as ID... WTF!!! Honestly, is it hard to take someone's checkbook? I'm hoping that was just a faulty mishap!
Okay...that's probably not bad enough to rant about... but today I was getting a SSN card replacement... where they didn't ask for ID at all until I asked them. They merely asked for my number. Any one could just pull a random number out of their ass and be handed over an identity. Like it never hit me until I left the building on how easy the government makes it for mishaps or theft. I'm hoping it was just from the crappy locations I went to, because that's a load of bullix.
Post-graduate/ "experience lack" hell
Okay... how the hell are recent graduates supposed to get any foot in the business world or any experience in their field when employers don't give them a chance. I've been job searching since early May and I keep running into the same shitty excuse, "We're looking for workers with some (at least 2-3+ years... alot have stated 7... wtf) experience." If you've just put years into college and no one will give you the chance to gain experience, where does the experience come from? How does 1+0=0... ? Let me tell you... it doesn't!!! And working some shitty part-time or retail is not going to gain any experience let alone pay the bills... now honestly I really don't get people. And another thing (for all of my art school buddies)... just because someone has graduated with an art degree, does not mean that they are slackers or dumb! We worked our asses off in school... we art students have a joke "Do art teachers actually go to school to learn how to decrease their students' esteem levels?" Because honestly as much as your thick heads think that we have easy classes... art school is like "a la boot camp au frustration"!
Back on to "requiring experience"... I've not only had college training, but I went to a competitive arts high school and middle school! So what does my 8+ years of formal art training count for... nothing? Experience... experience my ass! I did a strict four years of art high school boot camp, was one of the top ranked art school students in the country, and went on for college where I placed as "above average"... and apparently I still don't have enough experience in my field?
Okay... I'll admitt. Yes, I have a lack of digital experience... but by george I'm really a fast learner seeing as I redesigned and coded my website in two days and have been showing digital progress daily! So that "experience lack" is bullshit.
Then for you office worker... how fucking hard is it to type. You don't ask for applicants with college degrees but some still require experience in typing fast. You can not go to school for typing FAST. Typing... yes. Typing... NO.
"So what did you get your degree in?"
"BA in typing fast!"
...No no no... and again... fucking no!
You know what... freaking test the people. You do not need experience in typing fast. I live by my computer and am quite the speed demon. It's called play computer games... you'll know where the buttons are and not even have to look. Speed is not an issue... especially since the majority of offices still use a 9-key! But still I lack the prefered experience... how about you give me the job and then I'll have freaking experience!
