Karma Yoga

Although I am a teacher of Hatha Yoga, I find great strength in the path of action and selfless service. Serving without attachment to the fruits (or results) of the action - Karma Yoga. And therefore, I constantly keep my eyes pealed for opportunities to assist others ..... as Martin Luther King has stated, "you too can be a servant."
Recently, while walking down 24th Street, I stopped at the neighborhood bar - "Pops." And, as I drank my Fat Tire Beer, I noticed something different about the bartender. Emily seemed to have a swollen mouth. And Emily's lips seem to be a bit on a tilt. So, I continued to watch. .....
About half way through my beer, Emily spoke. And although she could hardly articulate her words, she told me the following:
"A couple nights ago, while 'walking my bike home' - I was the victim of a hit & run. As I crossed 24th Street @ Bryant Street, I was hit by a car (that was going 30 mph.) . The side view mirror struck my face, 13 of my teeth flew into Bryant Street and the driver just kept going. And although a local cab driver witnessed the incident, only part of the driver's license plate number was noticed. So I collected my teeth, put them in my purse and was taken to the hospital. "
Although Emily still has the ability to work - she will likely never make enough to pay the approximate $70,000.00 upcoming dentist bills. Emily, a fellow cyclist, could use the support of the San Francisco community.
So!
* If you ever walked or ridden a bike and been hit by a car ...
* If you've ever drank a beer at Pop's /or/ are an alcoholic. . . . .
* If you've ever been in the wrong place at the wrong time. .. . .
* If money is burning a hole in your pocket /or/you might have something to raffle off at the fundraiser ...
* If you're a Karma Yogi / Yogini at heart ...
Here's a fine opportunity to do community service. ynottony1.blogspot.com/2008/0...ga.html

Free Yoga Classes - Sports Basement - May 2009

"Free Yoga at Sports Basement"
- "In November 2008, as I was looking at the "Grotto" (community space) of Sports Basement, a light bulb went on. And, I began to ponder over the idea of using Sports Basement's community space to serve the yoga community. So to get the ball rolling, I began to teach free yoga classes each Sunday at Sports Basement.
A month later, I organized the first yoga teacher schedule, began the internet promotions, and then watched the students arrive. Since that time, the seed has blossomed. And, Sports Basement has applied my initial concept to their other store locations.
So first, I would just like to express my thanks & gratitude to all the yoga students who have attended & all the yoga teachers who have supported the idea of "free yoga Sundays" - making yoga accessible to every individual regardless of financial status.
Yoga Teachers of various styles ( Iyengar Yoga , Ashtanga Yoga , Vinyasa , Raja Yoga , Kundalini , Anasara Yoga , Yin Yoga , Power Yoga , Anna Forrest Yoga , etc.) will present their unique connection with the yogic path.

A raw food diet is not just good for you - it’s also good science! You don’t have to take our word for it, have ‘faith’ or trust the latest nutrition guru.
Well on 25 April 2008, individuals took a stand & began to bring together people from around the world in a "Movement to Reverse Diabetes Naturally" through the spreading of educational resources on nutrition such as the film “Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days” and “The Ultimate Encyclopedia of the Raw Food Lifestyle”

"In 1984, at the age of 22, I moved to San Francisco. During this time period, I could often be found in "The Trocadero," "The End Up," "Buzzby's," "DV8," and various other night clubs. San Francisco's night club scene was "off the hook." Everyone was having a good time. Yet, as the years past, I noticed that my Disco friends were slowly missing. And when I asked others about them, ... the common response was ..."they're dead." And now, at the age of 46, most of my friends are no longer here....

I believe Yoga should be accessible to every individual.
Therefore, for seven years, I have taught donation based yoga classes (students pay what they can afford).

And over the years, I have offered free yoga classes at San Francisco's Dolores Park, Ocean Beach and Free Yoga Classes at City Hall.

about me
In 1994, I needed "something to tell the grandchildren." So, I signed up to do a bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles. And although many a people laughed, I completed the 7 day, 585 mile, journey. And since then, in support of the fight against the AIDS pandemic, I have completed a total of 10 cycling journeys from San Francisco to Los Angeles.
aidslifecycle.typepad.com/alc5t...n.html
In 1996, I had an idea of cycling the "South of France." And although many a people laughed, I completed a solo bicycle tour in France. This tour covered Troyes, Chanttillon, Dijon, Dole, Besancon, Nimes, Montpellier, Beziers, Carcassonne, Toulouse, Montauban, Cahor, Brive, and Limoges, France.
In the year 2000, I enrolled in a 2yr. Advanced Yoga Teacher Training Program at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco. And although many a people laughed, I completed the two years of training. And since then, I have put down the Chardonnay and become a seasoned student of Yoga and an Iyengar Yoga teacher.

And now, I have chosen to reach out to Oprah Winfrey. So, I created "An invitation to Oprah Winfrey and Harpo Productions." And although many a people laugh, I continue with my journey.

"Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round heads in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules. You can quote them. Disagree with them. Glorify or vilify them. But the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do."
