Brain Storms - forecasts and reports
Our democracy is at stake! We have to educate each other and take action...
Sat, February 2, 2008 - 9:07 PMDid you know how easy it is to hack into electronic voting booths? By voting electronically we risk losing our votes. Millions of them. We as a people need to stop our current voting process. Obviously we can't trust our current government or the media to make changes unless we insist upon it. It's up to us as the people to get the message out. PLEASE HELP. Check out Uncounted. It's an explosive new documentary that shows how the election fraud that changed the outcome of the 2004 election led to even greater fraud in 2006 - and now looms as an unbridled threat to the outcome of the 2008 election.
YOU CAN TAKE ACTION TO PROTECT OUR VOTE IN TIME FOR THE 2008 ELECTIONS! Here are some suggestions:
Show UNCOUNTED to your family, friends and associates. Set up screenings at your home, community center, church, and any other gathering space. Then, after you watch the film, discuss the issues that have been raised. screenings@UncountedTheMovie.com
Contact your Congressional representatives.
Write letters and emails and call the lawmakers who represent you – both your senators and representative! You can find contact information for your congressional representatives at: www.congress.org.
Some things to consider saying…
• Tell them you are against paperless, inauditable electronic voting machines.
• Tell them you support hand-counted paper ballots.
• Ask them to make Election Day a national holiday.
Write a letter to the editor.
After you write or call your representatives, send a letter to the editor of your local newspaper about the same issues. Letters to the Editor are one of the most widely read sections of the newspaper – and one letter often gets the attention of our leaders.
Work as a Poll Worker on Election Day.
Train to work as a pollworker on Election Day. This is an opportunity to view the process close-up – and to help make sure all voters get to exercise their right.

Volunteer to be a Poll Observer on Election Day.
Volunteer to do other kinds of work on Election Day. Google “Election Protection” for some ideas. Here are some things you can do:
• Be a poll observer, to help safeguard the rights of voters.
• Answer hotline calls from voters reporting problems.
• Go door-to-door encouraging people to vote.
• Campaign for the candidates of your choice.
Join a group to fight for honest and fair elections.
Between 2004 and 2006, hundreds of local, regional and national election integrity and voting rights groups have formed to safeguard our elections. You can get involved with one in your area. For a list, go to: www.votersunite.org.
Be Informed about what’s going on with our election system.
While you won’t find much in the national or local media, there are many dedicated journalists, bloggers, and activists doing great work all over the Internet. The following sites have been huge resources for UNCOUNTED:
www.bradblog.com – journalist Brad Friedman
www.VelvetRevolution.us - a network of more than 120 election integrity and other organizations
www.freepress.org – journalists Bob Fitrakis, Steven Rosenfeld and Harvey Wasserman
www.blackboxvoting.org – election consumer advocate Bev Harris
www.votersunite.org – non-partisan grassroots network for fair and accurate elections
www.electiondefensealliance.org – national election integrity organization

of course it gets worse...
Check out this closely reasoned analysis: www.truthout.org/docs_04/111404A.shtmlI think this wasn't an even better publicized national scandal because there wasn't any way way to dumb it down enough. And nobody in the story has a wardrobe malfunction. |
