Call me the last unapologetic bachelor. I'm no big deal, I'm just me. I'm just doing my Thing. But no one else could do it. Let me put it another way: some people have a sense of destiny. This not the same as megalomania. It's just a sense that they are here to do something Important. What's hard is that I have no idea what that important thing is or when I'm supposed to do it. But I'm ready when the time comes.

Forty-seven years old and still unmarried and childless? What's the matter with me?
First of all, no one believes I'm forty-seven. Just pretend I'm immortal; I do. Secondly,
I've been dating since I was eighteen. That's twenty-eight years. If I've learned anything
from all that experience, it's that I like going on dates. I guess I must be pretty good at it by now, too. All I know is, I'm not ready for the ride to end. And it would take a pretty exceptional gal to convince me otherwise.
