My Wonderful Life.....Yeah, Right!!!
My very, very bad day!!!
Sun, May 13, 2012 - 9:55 PMI had a very bad day on Friday 5/11/12. The day started off well enough, went down to Dog Island Park and played 2 1/2 rounds of disc golf with my buddies, played pretty well, too! It was hot and sweaty when I got done and I needed to go to the store so I drove over to Raley's Supermarket. The store is next to Wal-Mart and I parked my truck in an end-spot so that no one would hit my truck with their doors, etc. When I came out of the store I thought I was going to fucking puke, WHAT THE FUCK?!!! There was a large, deep and uneven scrape on the tailgate of my truck! I didn't know what to do I was so fucking mad I could have spit nails. No note on the windshield from whoever the asshole was, no nothing! Typical fucking Red Bluff Trash!
I got in my truck and headed home. When I was about six blocks away from home, I was just turning a corner and the truck seemed to lose some power all of a sudden and there was a distinctive knocking sound coming from the engine. FUCK, NOW WHAT???!!! I pulled over immediately and popped the hood and checked the oil in case it was low but it was only down a tiny bit so that wasn't it. I started my truck and as long as I drove real slow there was no knocking, but it came back if I started to go faster. I got home and called my dad, a mechanic for 60 years. He came down and we took off the valve cover to see if there was any visible damage there but it was normal with no obvious defects. Whetever it was it was deep in the engine somewhere. My Dad is 86 so there was no question of asking him to do anything that heavy so we ended up going over to a repair shop that I have used before.
When I talked to the Service Manager he said that there was nothing they could do since they didn't do major engine work like that. I asked for a referral and he said that Elite Automotive was a good place to go. When I went back to my truck there was an oil trail behind it and a pool of oil was forming under it. I guess when we put the valve cover back the rubber gasket had shifted and it had been leaking oil on the way to the shop, the good thing being that there was still enough oil in it so that it wasn't damaged by driving to the shop, which is only three blocks from my apartment. Oh, yeah this was fucking NICE!!! What next, a horde of fucking locusts, a tsunami, the asteroid Apophis??? We pushed the truck backward off the service lot and just across the street and parked it there. My Dad called his towing company and they came right out and put my truck up on a flatbed to go to Elite Automotive. It worked out well because the towing company is right next door to Elite Automotive.
When we got there we went to talk to the Service Manager there and he was real nice and pleasant. They had a lot of cars there and a huge shop so I guess they do a lot of business, which was a good sign. The Manager said they would look at it but it would be a few days before they could get to it because of the cars that were there ahead of me.
So now I guess I wait til I get the bad news because if they have to take off the head, and get into the block, etc. it is going to get very expensive very fast! By the end of the day I was so stressed out I couldn't stand it...thank God for Lorazepam!!! So, I am on foot, so to speak, with no transportation. The Park is only about six blocks away so I am still going there every day to play. Getting more exercise, which is good because I want to lose a few pounds anyway. A few weeks or so ago I was at 181 pounds, but the last time I was at the V.A. Clinic in Redding I was at 174. I want to get to 170 or maybe 165 (When I was younger I always weighed an even 155 pounds), so I'm going to watch what I eat. I am making sure to drink lots of water because the temps at the park have been up to 98 degrees lately. It is always hot here in the summer, usually up to 117 degrees at it's hottest. I haven't been wearing a hat, which is stupid because I have had heat stroke once and heat exhaustion two different times. So I am going to make sure I have a hat and get it really wet when I play and it keeps me real cool when I wear it and I carry a bottle of water in my disc golf bag.
Anyway, that's the news from my little part of the universe...black hole is more like it!!! I'll let you know what happens, I'm sure it will be rather traumatic whatever it turns out to be. The guy that sold me the truck had put a brand new head on it just before I got it, the receipt for it is still in the glove box, so that may be a help, I don't know. Just another chapter in MY WONDERFUL LIFE.....YEAH RIGHT!!!

security cams in parking log
Most stores like wall mart have security cams.
Talk to the store manager and tell him what happened. You might be able to view the clip for the date / time you were in the store. Hurry though; most rotate out their security video on a weekly rotation. |
