We've been playing for several years honing our sound and have become local favorites. We are careful to keep our behavior within the various downtown ordinances that limit when and where performers may play. Tomorrow the City Council will vote on a new set of laws that will affect us and all of the other performers. If these laws are passed we won't be able to play in the few places we've been legally allowed to play. ... read more

I know these tough economic times are affecting us all and certainly will in our future. It also robs city budgets of much needed tax revenue that is spent on services we may take for granted; such as police and community centers. The Santa Cruz city council clearly favors one over the other. In the coming budget the bloated Santa Cruz Police budget will increase. You'll be happy to know that the Santa Cruz Farmer's Market Drum Circle happened without the expected police crackdown. Lots of happy people. Joe Schultz brought out some really yummy soup and FoodNotBombs was there too.
