<div>Greetings,

We would like to invite you to a Sound Awakening evening at Tibet Spirit on Monday July 14th. As usual, bring a pillow and blanket for comfort. We will surround you with deep harmonic vibrations from didjeridus, gongs, singing bowls, flute and much more.
We will have a small selection of gongs and cds available for sale at the event.

Tibet Spirit
3288 SE Hawthorne
7-8:30pm
$15
Bring pillow and blanket

In addition, we are reaching out to the community in hopes of finding a possible place to stay for the next month. There was an unexpected emergency with our house and we need to find a place to stay from next week until approximately August 7th - then we will be on the road.

We don't need much space but can't be anywhere with cats due to allergies. A single room, house sitting, studio, cabin - we're open to all suggestions. Right now we're in a hotel because we had to leave quick but we can't afford to stay here much longer. It would be best to be in the SW Portland area due to lots of appointments but we'd be open to hear about any opportunities whether housesitting or renting... Jen has great rental/credit references and I have good credit and have owned my home for many years.

If you or anyone you know are headed out on vacation we'd be wonderful caretakers - I've done landscaping/gardening for many years and we're quite responsible.

We need to find something right away, our hotel stay ends on Tuesday and we need somewhere to go!

Thank you for sharing any suggestions!
We hope to see you on July 14th!

This is a reminder that tomorrow evening we would like to invite you into our home, our sanctuary of sound. This is a space that has been filled with over ten years of resonance from the didjeridu, Tibetan bowls, gongs and much more. When we pick up these instruments to play for you, the room comes alive in harmony.

Please join us for an intimate and powerful evening of sacred sound from around the world. We will create a sonic tapestry to weave around each of you, giving you a unique and individual experience to to explore a space apart from your daily mindset. If you let them, the vibrations in the form of soundwaves will gently soak into your body and vibrate each and every cell of your body back to its optimal state of resonance.

If you are able to pull yourself indoors from the sun we would love the opportunity to share our music with you.

There have been requests from some of you for another sound healing workshop.
This is tentatively scheduled for Sunday April 27th - either a partial day (3 hours, $45) or longer day (5 hours, $65). Please let me know if you are interested and which you prefer. Whichever of these get more interest will happen.

Content will include an overview of the current field of sound healing, from pioneers of sound healing to those doing computer-based voice analysis and custom feedback on sound tables.

There will be discussion on various approaches both scientific and intuitive, from biofeedback to chakra and planetary based tuning as well as incorporating sound into other forms of healing such as massage.

For the rest of the session I share my own approach to sound healing which will include hands-on experience with Tibetan singing bowls, gongs, didjeridus and more.
This workshop will end with an opportunity to relax, lay back and soak up these soundwaves allowing all of this to sink in deep and full.

With over 25 years of playing music, I have focused on the didjeridu and sound healing as my main passion. This is something that is always evolving with new discoveries, instruments and opportunities. It is my pleasure to share my experiences and knowledge with you.

~~~
Please contact us for more information on individual or couples sound healing sessions, private events in your home and didjeridu lessons.  Cds, Tibetan singing bowls and gongs are also available for sale.
										<div>Portland's a bit cold these days, don't you think?  I need a bit of sunshine, need to thaw and dry out.
Jen and I are setting up a sound healing road trip from Portland to San Diego and back up.  We're leaving February 17th for a bit over 2 weeks.    I've been staying up quite late most nights working on logistics and looking for places to stay and/or play on our way.
Anyone know of spots that might be interested in hosting our Sound Awakening event?  Anyone who might have a spare bed for a night?  Most of our time will be in San Francisco, Santa Cruz and San Diego areas but open to opportunity and divine re-direction.
I expect to be getting a new (to me) laptop tomorrow and already have decent recording gear.  I hope to do some recording with musicians we connect with along the way and I already have quite a few other cd project ideas that I'm eager to get to very soon.
I'd love to hear any thoughts...
										<div>Greetings,
As this year comes to a close, we would like to invite you to join us at the Crystal Temple for a Sound Awakening evening this coming Saturday, December 29th.  The soundwaves created with the didjeridus, singing bowls, gongs and more are quite potent.
This is a wonderful opportunity to use the vibrations of sound to help gently shake out the stagnant energy and allow your body and spirit to prepare for a fresh new year.
We will return to the Crystal Temple again on Saturday January 19th.
Please bring a pillow and blanket for comfort.  You may also wish to come with an intention for the evening, something to focus on as we bathe you in the sounds of these ancient instruments from around the world.
Blessings,
Tom and Jen
    </a>
										<div>This time last year I was going all out making ceramics for holiday sales.  I ended up with lots of work, very few sales and an injured shoulder that still isn't back to normal.
I learned my lesson and put it all aside for a while, waiting for new inspiration and knowing not to overdo it.
After this year-long hiatus I found myself sitting at the throwing wheel again with the desire to create illumination.
Lanterns have always called to me and now I'm exploring shapes and forms and decoration.
This is what I ended up with for my first piece - unglazed, unfired as of yet but it felt good to light it up and see it shine.  I've got a handful more drying a bit right now that I'm about to work with, I'll let you know when something comes out of the kiln.  </div>
    </a>
										<div>Greetings,
It's been a cold start to the new year, so here is an invitation to warm up and sink into a deep sound meditation journey in my home this Friday, January 26.
This Friday I welcome you all to join with me in starting off this year with deep and healing vibrations.  I am being called to create this sound journey on short notice, but it shall be filled with much harmony and bliss as always.
Since this will be in my living room it will be a smaller and more intimate evening than the Harmonic Lineage group events.  I call upon the same source of inspiration, however, and encourage you to come with an intention for the evening.  The soundwaves of this musical journey create potent energy to help propel our intentions into action.
As usual, please bring a pillow and/or blanket for comfort.
Suggested donation is $10-15, no one turned away due to lack of funds.
Please contact me for directions or further information and please pass this invitation along to friends.
    </a>
										<div>
The Winter Solstice is the turning point in the natural cycle of the year. This start of the solar year is a celebration of Light and the rebirth of the Sun. Solstice rites are one of our oldest celebrations, held by virtually early every culture in the world. Many of the customs associated with the Winter Solstice derive from stories of a mighty battle between the dark and the light. Other traditions record this as the time a savior (the Sun-Child) is born to a virgin mother.
It is also a time of spiritual beginnings. Because it signifies the completion of the wheel of the year, the period around the winter solstice is considered to be a good time for spiritual work. It is a time for self-examination and meditation on hidden energies-both the energies lying dormant within the earth, and also those within ourselves. Winter solstice traditions celebrate nature's renewal, and help affirm our connection to the energy and power of the earth and the cosmos.
Come join our Ceremony
-Please bring: a cushion to sit on, and a dripless candle.
-Ceremony will begin with music by Tom Lange and Jazen Kautz on didgeridu, gong, Tibetan singing bowls, flute and more. Alan Stein will lead ceremony, incorporating Soyal (Hopi winter solstice) elements.
-We will honor the dark before calling in the light. We will spend a few moments meditating in darkness and silence, reflecting on these qualities of winter. This is a natural time for letting go and saying farewell. Release your resentments and regrets into the darkness, knowing they will be transformed.
-We will welcome the light by lighting candles (some will be provided, feel free to bring your own special candle). When you light your candle, do so with the intention of bringing light into the world. What are the ways in which you can help make the world lighter? How do you bring light into the lives of those around you? Make a conscious effort to increase the amount of light you create. Contribute to the manifestation of more wellness on Planet Earth.
**This is a FREE event. You are welcome to bring any offering you wish to contribute: food, drink, dripless candles, solstice decorations (evergreens, holly, ivy, mistletoe).**
    </a>
										<div>I got invited a month ago to join a friend's holiday art sale, and I had already been thinking I really wanted to get ceramics happening again in my life.  Did lots of it off and on over the last 10 years, but this time I had been given a lowfire kiln and a throwing wheel that needed to be put to use.
Christmas gift sales, I thought, and was ready to get to work.   Popped a rib out of place the next day, that put things on hold for a couple weeks.  Sat down a week ago and have been busting my butt ever since, throwing, trimming, throwing, trimming 'til 2am...  Pinched a couple nerves in my shoulder, slapped on some arnica and kept going.  Finally got the kiln loaded 2 days ago and the power went out.  Went out for coffee, came back to 2 - two - TWO freakin' water leaks downstairs.  One wasn't enough, I guess.  Ok, so I got that bisque kiln fired - that's the photo.
Finally got to start glazing this morning, just loaded the kiln an hour ago, I'll find out tomorrow morning how they turn out.  One more firing to load tomorrow morning, out in the afternoon, and into the car to get to my friend's show to set up.
Had to cancel a massage/sound session trade today because there was way too much to do, even though I really need a massage!  So, anyone in Portland who wants to trade massage for either a sound healing session or ceramics if there are any left, let me know.  I'll be needing lots of muscle manipulation starting Monday morning...
And in the end?  Or at least right now?  Damn happy.  It feels so darn good to be getting back to ceramics and creating art.  Beautiful, functional art that I can put in my kitchen cupboards or give to friends or sell with a proud smile on my face.
Add to that a call from New Renaissance Bookstore saying they want to stock a couple different cds of mine and an accepted proposal for another sound healing workshop at another local spot and those pinched nerves seem like mere temporary physical sensations.  Granted, it's like a nail being pounded into my shoulder, but eh, what can ya do?
Turn up the kiln and take an epsom salt bath, that's what!
										<div>About time for me to post my first blog??
Ok, lots going on in life, but right now I'm busy taking notes on my thoughts about sound healing, getting ready for a workshop this Saturday the 9th.  So I suppose this is promotion for the workshop as well as me finally starting to share bits and pieces of life.
btw, anyone out there interested in helping me create a cool website?
Here's info for the workshop:
------------
Didjeridu Sound Healing Workshop
and Performance with Tom Lange
Saturday, Dec 9, 7:00-9:00 pm
Come join us for an exploration of sound and vibration!
We will be talking about soundwaves, harmony and resonance.
Sound combined with focused intent is a powerful way to heal yourself
and others.  These vibrations can help clear energy blockages and
release stagnant energy in both the mental and physical realms.
In addition, the music will take you to a peaceful state of mind - or no-mind!
We’ll do simple toning to help keep your body tuned and grounded.
Tom will be playing the didjeridu and other instruments directly on you so you
can feel as well as hear the music.
