</a>
										<div>Okay...I TOTALLY wish I had an incredibly wonderful story for THIS one. NOPE! I was talkin to my hubby (who was sittin at the counter). I reached to the refrigerator...OOOOUCH! Not sure WHAT the heck happened!?!?! The pain decreased fairly rapidly...So, I didn't even bother to look at my thumb until I was done doin a couple of things in the kitchen. When I looked down, it was like there was a worm on my knuckle...And don't EVEN try to TOUCH it!
Couple of days later I went to Urgent Care, cause doc was busy until the next week. After xrays the UC doc says that it was badly jammed, badly sprained, and I damaged the nerves in my thumb. She orders a splint for it. I told her that I felt pretty goofy goin in to UC just for a splint...I coulda gone to the store for one of THOSE! Her response was, "Yeah...Butcha couldn't have gotten the drugs"!
Made me laugh.  </div>

										<div>I swear...Sometimes, the world that surrounds me can get filled with such ugliness! I guess it's alright...We've had such a good run. Finding such beauty in my own back yard was such wonderful gift and a very nice break! It helped me get square with things again. I cannot wait for my hubby to see what has happened! Like it was said on the Wizard of Oz...If I need to find my heart's desire...I never need look further than my own back yard!...Or something like that...</div>

    </a>
										<div>Merry Christmas!

CHRISTMAS MORNIN!!! Just can't get ANY better! Who needs mistletoe!?!?! What a Hunka-hunka-HUBBY!!!

My granddaughter, Kierra, and I were walkin through a store, yesterday. She was showin me the vacuum that her parents recently bought for Christmas. She asked me if I wanted a vacuum like that...Instantly, I said "NOPE"! When she asked why...I explained that I really LOVE the one that I have...And that Grandpa got it for me.

Suddenly, I realized that I "want what I got"!!!...You know that ol saying...It is better to "want what you got" not "gettin whatcha want"! My mind was suddenly FILLED with SO MANY of the "got what I want" things that surround my life...WONDERFUL husband, kids/kids-in-laws, grandkids (13), home, cars, pool, too many cats, too many dogs, and the list goes ON AND ON!!! My husband and I went outside, last night, looked back at our wonderful house-trimmed with the festive lights...And marveled at just how wonderful our life really is...And just HOW much "got what we want" surrounded us!

I SOOOOO remember MANY Christmas' that it was a choice between the tree or gifts for the kids, broken car windows with black bags taped up in their place, car heaters not workin, bein completely alone on Christmas Eve/Day, stuck in a job that I couldn't stand, havin to say goodbye to a dear one lost to depression. These were sad and hard times...And I remember them well. I sure makes me think long and hard about "wantin" more, more, more...

The thing here is...Yeah...There is always room for dreamin, that is true! But...For the here and the now...It sure gotta lotta "got what I want" all around me!!! I am TOTALLY blessed...I am aware, this Christmas Day...And I am EVER so grateful...

May YOUR Christmas' be FILLED with "want whatcha gots"!!! Merry Christmas!</div>

    </a>
										<div>Well...Its here...Its finally here...Christmas Eve 2007.  Merry Christmas!

I keep finding myself reflective today. Some memories are rather sad. We have lost many loved ones in the past years and some in 2007. I feel honored to have been able to atleast share moments in the lives of the ones who have passed. I hold many memories near and dear to my heart. That song that says...We all will be together...If the fates allow...Felt rather large this year, as I listend to the words and hummed along.

MANY moments with people in my memories make me smile. So many wonderful people have entered our lives and hearts. Some in friendships and some by birth. Our lives have truly been blessed!

Having the opportunity to wake up each day and be open to the newness of the mornings, anticipations of the day, and the peace and rest that the evenings alow, is a wonderful thing. I would love to say that as each day passes, I realize how blessed we truly are and that I relish EVERY moment with these people. Alas, the hustle-bustle of each day, thinking about the next paycheck to pay the inevitable bills, and the stress of time constraints often preoccupy my thoughts...And more often than not...These things rob me of the wonderment that each day gifts me. I "get through the day" and lay my weary head to rest on my pillow. Shame on me.

Thank God, I have Christmas Eves and other days such as this, to pause and take note of just how truly blessed I really am! Thank you to all the wonderful people who have allowed me to peak into their lives, if only for a moment, and share their sorrows and delights. These are precious times which mark my memory and make me realize just how lovely life is. </div>

    </a>
										<div>Okay...So, we were bbq-in and cookin Thursday night. We are waitin on Kierra's mom and dad to come over to eat. The doorbell rings...Kierra peeks outside...NO one??? Hmmmm. I go outside to see if Kierra's daddy is playin a joke! Nope! There was a mystery box on our porch...Simply addressed to "Auntie Pokey and David".

Hmmmm...Someone obviously knows us! But with no return address...We got REAL sneaky and took the tracking number online! HA! Ugh! There was only information tracking it to a company in Colorado! There is no return address...And no return information! A TRUE mystery!

I asked David, if we should stick it under the tree and leave the mystery until Christmas...Or open it now. Much to my chagrin...He opted to "throw it under the tree and wait 'til Christmas!" AAAAaaaaah!

So...We have a true Christmas mystery!!! Anyone wanna help us try to clear it UP!?!?!?

										<div>Okay...I DID it! I finally took up clogging classes! I knew it would be fun...But, I didn't know it would be a BLAST! I had SUCH a GREAT TIME at our 2007 Christmas performance and the after party! It has been fantastic getting to know everyone, dancin, and hangin out! These people are genuine and are so much fun!

I have been following some of these cloggers since we moved back to Bakersfield a week before Christmas 3 years ago. Regina and Shellie have enspired me and I am ever so grateful to them. Pat simply is the BEST EVER! Pat is the clogging teacher at Centre Stage (Bakersfield). She teaches clogging, ballet, jazz, tap, and who KNOWS what else! She is an inspiration!

Gloomy-Dreary Days...All Too Soon

    </a>
										<div>BOY! Is it here ALL too soon! Gloomy-dreary days! Usually, I get depressed and melancholy! Queer thing...I am unusually perky and happy, this morning!?! Maybe, it is cause I got up and had my carpets cleaned by 9:00a.m?! Maybe, it is cause I over-booked my day!?! EEEK!!! OR...Maybe, it is becauseI am surrounded by such wonderful people, these days!

I do have a wonderful husband, no doubt! People probably get tired of me saying that...But...It just is so true! Nough said, for now, anywayz!

I have such wonderful kids, their wives, and families. Things are wonderful when we are all together (well in small segments, as we have 4 fabulous boys, 4 of their fantastic wives, and 12 confusing but always loved grand ones...Awaiting 13 in January).

Friends are dear and wonderful, as well. We know that we have some great people surrounding us and that is ALWAYS a good thing!

Then, there is this troupe. It is taking on a life of it's own. It is growing...changing...evolving. I pause when I think of the wonderment that is swelling up from within the ranks. We have wonderful people comming to us. Pam says it is like having a slumber party each time we go to class. I have to echo her sentiment, here. Can we bring wine and cheese to the slumber party??? ha! Truly though, I feel blessed to be a part of this almost magical creation.

So...Bring it on gloom and dreary. I'll take it...AND keep smilin. It'll make um all wonder...Just what the heck I'm UP to! heh heh</div>

A Time Of Change

    </a>
										<div>Here it is...Summer yielding to Fall...And I find myself and my life changing along with the seasons. One example is:

Gyspsy Fusion is experiencing a shift and/or a change. We have moved locations and time slots. Also, we have reluctantly said farewell to some of our Gypsy Dancers. We have also welcomed several new Gypsy Dancers.

It is sad to see some of the dancers go...However, there is a calmness that has surrounded me both with our new studio location (and time) and the in-flow (if you will) of the new energy from our new dancers.

We are changing...In some ways I already miss the old ways and past dancers. However, I keep my eyes here and now...Basking in the energy of today. There is such a peace to it all... </div>

    </a>
										<div>New energy...And a pistol at that! She certainly is a bundle of energy...But, is also soft and sweet. Her name is Sophie's Choice. We call her Sophie. She is a bit small for her age.

Along with her partner, Tucker, we are on CONSTANT pedigree-puppy-poop-patrol!!! If it were not for how cute they are...I am thinking that they would need the 9 lives of the cats!!!

She and Tucker are only 5 weeks apart!!! It is HARD to believe with their size difference!!!

										<div>Here is our wonderful new little bundle of joy, Tucker's Hollow. We call him Tucker. He is a bit over-sized for his age. He is pretty darn smart! He is catching onto many things VERY fast!!!...Except the poopy puppy thing! *sigh*</div>

    </a>
										<div>I was taken back today about the news of my step brother, Jon Jon (as we always called him) passing away, at the age of 41, on August 31, 2007.

Jon was moving home, from Davis, to the Bakersfield area, where he was found at 1:30p.m. on the road side of West 80 outside of Las Vegas, by police officers.

Jon had 2 children 14 girl and 12 boy. He dutifully raised them, as a single dad, from the ages of 1 1/2 and 3.

My memories are all loving ones of him. We shared memories of having horses and playing, as children do. Jon and I also shared a bedroom, when he was with us.

I had encounters with Jon, as the years passed...Then, I moved away some 20 years ago and lost touch...Though I would hear news of him through the grapevine (and loved each tid-bit that I would hear). I wanted to find him and his mom, Eva, when I/we moved back to Bakersfield, 2 1/2 years ago. I never acted on my desire.

I have spoken with Eva (Jon's mom) who is and was such a lovely and wonderful woman to me (and many others, no doubt). She treated me with such a lovely heart...Even after our families parted. She provided opportunities for Jon and I to watch movies, play, and hang out together...And I am grateful for that time.

I think that one of my most favorite memories would be:

Eva (Jon's mom) had to work and asked if I could come over and spend the day with Jon. I quickly agreed to do so. Jon and I had such a splendid day together. We watched a Jerry Lewis movie, Cinderfella (It was SO FUNNY to me, back then). We made Campbells soup and some sandwhiches, for lunch, explored his home, and tinkered with his "stuff"...Though it be a typical day in the life of an average person...The memory lingers on. I think that I will hold that memory and smile.

We email often about our ourselves, family, and every day life. I feel rather close to her and was in shock when I read this email!!! Please keep her in your prayers!!!

The photo is a picture a recent picture of Gina and Ashley (her daughter).

Please keep Gina in your prayers....and Edna's whole family. Hugs, Mom

Subject: Hi

Hi, It has been a bad day here-- Gina was in an accident-- her and Greg went for a motorcycle ride this afternoon. Gina was the passenger on the back-- she passed out and fell off the bike when they were going 60 miles an hour down the hwy. she is really banged up but will be okay. She is in a hospital 100 miles from here, we just got back home a little while ago. Her ankle is broken in two or three places and the top of her foot is also broke. It is a small hospital and they don't set bones, so they cast-braced it for now. She has road burns all over her body, they did cat scan of her neck and head and it was okay, they exrayed different parts of her body and didn't see any other breaks. I hated leaving her there but will go back with Greg in the morning. They said they are keeping her for observation tonight, they don't know why she passed out. They said they will probably release her in the morning and then she is to get with her Dr. to get her foot taken care of-- imagine it will need surgery, I am not sure.
    Brenda and Steve are gone on there trip and Gina said not to contact them, they will be home tomorrow, but I don't have a # or know what motel they are staying in. So will have to wait until they get home to tell them.
   I'll write more tomorrow on how she is doing. Thought you would want to know what has been going on. Love, Edna

    </a>
										<div>I had gone shopping to find a Harley Davidson for David (eheeem...Okay me too). We have haunted motorcycle stores from here to Fresno). Right here in our good ol Bakersfield store...I found 1 of 3 that I thought David would really like...One of them being the one that I thought he would like best...Sporster Custom 1200-Burgundy-ish.

Then...Off I went to find what I like/want. There was only ONE that met all of my desires...Peg placement, price, etc...Sportster Custom 883 with the larger/lower tank!

I dragged David down to see what I had found for him. He IMMEDIATELY was drawn to the Burgundy-ish one...And completely fell for it!!! Fortunately...Or un-fortunately...The ONLY one that they had for me...Is ALSO burgundy-ish! EEEK! MATCHY MATCHY NED FLANDERS type situation here! Okaly DOKaly!

Anyway...He really really loved his...I really really loved mine! NOW what!?!?

Then...We went for the Harley Helmets. We both reached for the SAME ONE! Can you beLIEVE THIS!?!?!? I think that we are kinda similar! heh heh

We decided that we were gonna be okay and bought them...AND the same helmets with flames!

We LOVE our Harleys!!! We rode off into the sunset and were out putting our first 50 miles on them (breaking in the engine) until late into the evening! And I was wearing my Belly Dance Biker Babe tank top, TOO!!!

We really DO have so much love that we needed to share. Adopting these orphans will fill our hearts and lives!!! Life just doesn't get much better!!!</div>

    </a>
										<div>Just posted 3 pictures, that I found in my old photo album. My journey began in Clairmont Mesa, California in 1976...At that age of 16!!! Was I REALLY that young!?!?!?

I danced with a wonderful groupe of women...We called ourselves a "harem", back then...The term didn't seem to have the stigma or derogatory manner that it seems to carry with it today!?!

Anyway...My teacher's name was Corky Rivest. She was a wonderfully vivacious woman, who I grately admired! We danced at the Sheraton Inn Lounge, on Harbor Island. It seem so long ago...And much more like a dream, than a memory.

Thirty years and thirty pounds later (ugh)...I've re-found, re-kindled, and re-envoked the spirit of the dance within myself...That somehow was lost or stolen...In my youth.

Now, I teach my daughter-in-law, grand daughter and a wonderful "troupe" of women. I have come full circle. Interesting...Life seems funny, that way...</div>

    </a>
										<div>I cannot believe that such a SLIGHT adjustment in my drinking beverages and a shift in my eating style could make such a dramatic difference!

I have now lost just over 20 pounds in a few months. It doesn't particularly "show" at this point...But...I'll take it...None-the-less.

I cut out soda and most alcohol, and caffeine. I began making sure that I cooked FRESH vegetables and had a FRESH CUT salad, atleast 3-4 times a week (instead of canned and frozen...And fast foods).

Don't get me wrong! I do still endulge and eat what I want, when I want to...Ice Cream, an occassional candy bar, fast foods...Only it is a dull roar, now.

Interestingly, I have not changed my excercise pattern too much!?!? I do 20-60 sit ups, each day...As I have for quite some time, now. I HAVE added trying to belly dance and/or take a 1/2 hour walk for about a half hour 3-4 days a week and 2 hours (as always) on Mondays...But...Must admit that I am not rigid in this area, though.

So...Loosing weight and wining my confidence back. Life is good...And is gonna get gooder!

    </a>
										<div>Okay...I don't usually post this stuff...But...My mother sent this to me...And yeah...I did find it interesting...Especially with winter blues locking many of us in or keeping us all closer to home, our days getting a bit shorter, and...Simply...Life happening to us all...

Creating Connections While Apart
Family Ceremonies
Life’s journeys may sometimes take us away from our families and friends, but there are many ways to stay connected. Aside from making use of the technology available—speaking on the phone or seeing each other from across cyberspace—we can create simple ceremonies using nature and our own thoughts to connect our hearts across the miles.

The first step in creating your ceremony is to look to nature for similarities in the different surroundings. The second step is agreeing upon something that is meaningful to all involved. If your mother loves birds, then perhaps each time you hear a bird chirp, you can think of her and mentally send love. You may choose the sight of a butterfly, the feel of a breeze or raindrops, or the scent of flowers to remind you of a special someone. The pink glow of sunset might be your favorite time to send a thought, or perhaps the warming oranges of sunrise. We can all see the sun, the moon, and an array of twinkling stars when we look to the skies. The monthly full moon may be your time to connect with your loved ones, or the first star you see each night, knowing that they, too, are gazing into the night sky and sending love. You could choose a day that you would usually celebrate together, such as a holiday or a solstice. If you once shared Sunday brunches in the garden, you can! each seek out a garden on Sundays. Or you can choose a specific time and account for the time difference in order to connect by heart and mind at exactly the same moment.

With practice, we may learn to recognize the feeling that comes when a loved one sends energy our way, and the feeling of soul-to-soul communication. In this case, distance may indeed make our connections stronger. There is certainly much to make us think of our close friends and loved ones often, but when we decide upon a reminder together, we create a simple ceremony of connection that defies any distance.

Thanx Mom</div>

How Did I Get To Be So Damned Old

    </a>
										<div>I kept thinking that I was young! This year (2006), I had a long hard look in the mirror and saw the midline expansion (aka fat), the silver coloring in the gold (aka grey in my blonde), and wisdom lines in my face (aka wrinkles). Then, I look around and the next generation has saturated everything I was thought was my "thing". What the *#(&amp; "How did I get to be so damned old"!?!?

I am trying now, to figure out just where I fit in in this new enlightenment. Maybe, that is why I have been a bit blue!? I sure am grateful for my rock (aka David). He has been a wonderful place to fall. It makes this aging thing a little less sharp...Ya know?

Anyway...Lookin forward to the challeges of the New Year (2007). It is gonna be the year I start finding my place...Or atleast that is what I am planning. Ugh! Why does it all have to be so damned hard!?

Happy New Year
