about me
I started dancing April last year (2008) with Brisbanes Saahirah Rayvn.

In September I was asked to join Rayvns Sisters of Ishtar Gothique Bellydance Troupe (now knows as the Witches of Ishtar). I performed at various hafla's around the greater Brisbane area. I even had the chance to perform my own solo not only at the Black Widow end of year Hafla 2008, Oriels Mirage Hafla adn the Black Widow Cafe. Now I am on my own and looking for somewhere else to expand my knowledge.

I love Gothic Fusion Bellydance and the emotion that we bring to the genre. But as all fusioners I am bringing my own little twist into the scene.

As a Gold Coast Rave Baby (lol) I'm putting my own spin into Bellydance by connecting to the more Industrial style by bringing in Trance, Hard Energy, Electronica and even House music and Rave like dance moves. However, I will be keeping with the dark emotion of Gothic Fusion and also bring in pagan/witchy sense.

I have just started Hip Hop classes too with Silhouette Dance Studio to get into some more pops and locks and a little bit of groove. I'm doing these classes to add a little Edenia styling in ... with my own doof doof fusion lol.

I would like to thank Saahirah Rayvn for giving me the first steps in my journey. Now I am on my own way and starting up other classes with some beautiful teachers. I'm hoping to expand my knowledge and looking forward to the future of performing with them and as a soloist.

I'm at the beginning of a very long, hard and dark, but fun, jouney ... let's see where I'll end up now

Ramblings

Descent into the depths of the soul can be a painful experience, one in which one must confront personal demons. Yet this journey holds the promise of transformation, for by delving into the darkest parts of our souls and facing our deepest fears, we earn the chance to release these fears and live anew, to live refreshed, revitalized and free of the burdens that those fears had cast upon us.

Could it be that Perspephone chose to enter the Underworld? There are many re-imaginings of this myth reprinted below. The overall thread is that Persephone wanted to understand the deeper mysteries, and the only way of doing that was by going down below. In the pre-patriarchal understandings of this myth, Pluto was female, and part of the tripartite structure of the Great Goddess: Maiden (Persephone), Mother (Demeter/Ceres), Crone (Hecate). Although the process of death, transformation and r... read more

Her name means she who destroys the light. The story of Persephone is so rich in symbolism and meaning that it has held the fascination of artists, poets and mythologists for eons of time. Psychologists have incorporated her story into their theories of the way myth defines the roles a woman adopts for herself.

Briefly, Persephone was the daughter of Zeus, the head of Mount Olympus in Greek mythology, and the goddess of the grains, Demeter. Persep... read more

A daughter of Zeus and Demeter,Persephone was carried off to the Underworld by Hades who, having received the sanction of his brother---and Persephone's father---Zeus,suddenly rose up from a hole in the earth while the girl was gathering narcissus, seized her and dragged her,in his black chariot, down to the kingdom of the dead. Persephone, frightened, implored the gods to help her,but Zeus' word having been given to his brother,he made no move to help, nor would he suffer any of the other gods to ... read more

Persephone/Prosperina (Greece and Rome): Daughter of Demeter (Ceres) who was first called the Kore. She took the name Persephone after she descended to the Underworld. Sometimes called Queen of Hades. Goddess of Spring, Rebirth, Planting. The traditional story is that Hades, God of the Underworld, fell in love with Persephone and kidnapped her. A brief psychological overview of Persephone

Persephone - possessing an introverted temperament (polar opposite to Hera) with issues of inner world control/ power--she represents the goddess of the underworld--concerned with the world of spirit, the occult, matters associated with death. She is mystical, visionary and often possesses spirit guides. Her awareness is diffuse. Persephone belongs to the relationship-oriented 'vulnerable' goddess category having a very close relationship with h... read more

All do know you Daughter,

You are the Soul of Spring

Each year feels your fire

And all the Joys you bring.

Joy of Daffodil and of Rose

Joy of Apple blossoms sweet

Thy parted lips so gently posed,

And Joys, of wild-woods deep.

No Flowers budding is so fair

As thee, Persephone,

Thy scent, all flowers wish to wear

On warm winds you set free.

Each Winter fails to take thee

For you, in Memory

Shall gently grasp the Primrose

And force the ... read more

When you have faded away
When you are lost to the night
May you return to me
May all your battles be easy to fight

Sometimes the Underworld
Calls you away
When you are lost to light
Think of the day

I’m disappointed in you
Walking the path that is worn

What are you meant to do?
Should I expect you
To hold back the dawn?

I know the Underworld
Needs to be fed
Sometimes I feel you are
Too easily lead

So where do I go?
Down where the river flows
Down where the river f... read more

SUGGESTED MANTRA: EMPOWERMENT
Persephone lures followers down a path into the inner darkness - a first step in the journey of deep healing at the unconscious level. While the surface seems barren and forsaken, new growth unfolds beneath.

SUGGESTED AFFIRMATIONS:
~ I am as free as a bird
~ I am free to be myself
~ I accept myself as I am
~ I am good and I know it
~ I believe in my gifts and abilities
~ I release my need to be humiliated
~ I release my habit of self-criticism

New Worlds Isse: NW055
By: Natalie Harter, Acquisitions Specialist: Witchcraft, Paganism, Magick

As we enter the season of autumn, we have the opportunity to take a long and fruitful journey with the goddess Persephone. She is quite the intriguing lady. As bringer of spring and Queen of the Underworld simultaneously, she is paradox incarnate. She helps us to find balance in the many roles of our lives, and also to strike out on bold and daring new paths.

Traditionally the story of Pers... read more

The Persephone daughter never really grows up. When she matures, she will identify with another archetype. The Persephone daughter is immersed in her subjective experience. She can be curiously insightful, yet her innocence makes everyone wonder whether she is aware of the seriousness of her circumstance. Persephone manifests as the molested one, the one who is vulnerable to victimization and to scapegoating.

It is a paradox that the oppressed begin to participate in their own oppression.... read more

Persephone is the goddess of the underworld in Greek mythology. She is the daughter of Zeus and Demeter, goddess of the harvest. Persephone was such a beautiful young woman that everyone loved her, even Hades wanted her for himself. One day, when she was collecting flowers on the plain of Enna, the earth suddenly opened and Hades rose up from the gap and abducted her. None but Zeus, and the all-seeing sun, Helios, had noticed it.

Broken-hearted, Demeter wandered the earth, lo... read more

The earliest recorded version of the myth of Persephone comes from the Homeric Hymn to Demeter dated from the seventh century B.C.E. According to this version, Persephone, maiden goddess and daughter of earth mother Demeter, is abducted by Hades, god of the Underworld, and forced to live there with him as his consort and queen.

Only Hekate, the chthonic cave-dwelling goddess, knows of the kidnapping. It is Hekate who tells Demeter of Persephone's fate, nine days after the abduction event.... read more
