about me
Wow, there's so much...
I've been dancing for 28 years and bellydancing off and on for about 8. My first name is Terra and I lovingly adopted the "stage" name Maizah after my oldest daughter started calling me that around the house instead of mother. I know, strange way to pick a name, but it stuck and means more to me that way. My husband is active duty military, so we move pretty often. Right now we're in Charleston, but we'll go back to Washington state in June. I love ALL styles of bellydance and grew up watching dancers at all my family and church (yes, church) functions. My family is Syrian and we were very much a part of the Lebanese community in my hometown. I have three daughters now ages 15, 9, and 2, and a son who's 1. I love anything tribal or gothic and that influences many aspects of my life. I have been an "altered" artist for about six years, love to use found objects and repurpose just about anything I can get my hands on. I started as a rubber stamper and it just grew from there, so I tend to use alot of rubber stamps in my work. My latest obsessions are altered books and using doll parts. I also love making handmade cards that are a little out of the norm. Right now I'm working on a blog, and a website featuring my art and my daughter's art (which is awesome!).
