My Blog
I finally know where we are going.
First, we are a military family and we will be moving frequently. My boys are not used to it but I am since I was in the AF for 8 1/2 years. This move to Utah was the first move we all made as a family. Well...in October my husband will be doing his short tour (remote-one year by hisself, without his family.) in Osan, South Korea. That's going to suck. Initially, he was supposed to report to korea 10 September. That happens to be my due date. So we got approval (I'm not sure how) but to change his report date to the end of Oct. Well, to make things easier on me while he's gone, we decided the boys and I will be moving to New York to be with his family. It didn't hit me until yesterday that I'm going to be taking care of a 6 and 3 year old, plus a newborn by myself. I know plenty of people who have done it, but this will be my first time. So, we are going to pick up and move to New York for one year. The good news about it is, that since hubby is going to korea, he gets to choose what base he wants to live at afterwards. We found out yesterday we will be spending three years at RAF Croughton, England. I don't know much about the place, but we were happy to get England. We wanted an overseas base that neither of us had ever been stationed at. (Which is hard, because I was stationed in Germany for two years and I was in Italy for a short time.) So, I'm excited about England and I'm trying to find out local sca stuff about the place.
That's it for now. Can't wait until this week! Ren Faire time! However, we don't have costumes for it, but I'm sure we won't be the only ones without garb on.
First blog on Tribe!
It's been a while since I've done some sca stuff. So, I'm hoping to make it to Quest at the end of the month. My main problem with it right now is that I haven't made any new garb in awhile and I'm 5 and 1/2 months pregnant! So, I better start making some! I'm clueless about maternity garb so this will be an adventure!I will be (hopefully) going to the Ren faire in Salt Lake City on the 11 May. I've only been to one Ren faire and that was in Kansas many many moons ago. I think the boys will like it. They are getting old enough to enjoy some of this. (They are 3 and 6 years old.). I've taken them to a couple of events when we were in florida but they were too young. I've taken them to a twelfth night here in Gryphons Lair. Mikey had fun with the children's activities.
Otherwise, I'm starting to look into the group in Long Island. I don't know how often I'll get to attend events there (depends on the distance)! With three kids and my husband in korea, it may make things difficult or if the events are not too far away, it may make things easier on me. But I do want to get the boys involved with the SCA. They will enjoy it. I don't think my husband gets into it much. I have been able to drag him to a couple of events though. Maybe he'll grow into it.
Well, that's it for now. We'll see how often I write in this blog though.
