The Really BIG Show Was A Really Big Sucsess! I would like To Thank The Acedmey!
Sun, February 25, 2007 - 5:24 PMSo The Really Big Show went pretty damn well! I felt a little off via a combination of lack of sleep, really bright lights and hundreds of people, but I had a great time! I think as artists we are our own worst critics, I look at my hooping so negatively sometimes, like I am hyper analyzing my dancing and not being able to relax. I forget sometimes that this is all still pretty new to me. That hooping has been in my life for less than a year and that Performance art is definitely new to me. Had you told me one year ago I would have performed twice at The Academy Of music I wouldn’t have believed it. Today I felt very proud, proud of myself and the work I have put in, proud of my community which continually supports me and the arts, Proud Of the town I live in that has made so much possible. Proud of the Primate Fiasco who I feel honored to be lucky enough to work with. Proud of the Academy Of Music which has supplied this town with great entertainment for decades. I remember seeing shows at the academy when I was a child. In fact I remember going to see The Really Big Show there, The Nut Cracker, and countless awkward teenage dates to the movies. It is a truly magical place and a land mark of Northampton I believe will rise again. It is our responsibility as artists, Residents and art appreciators of all forms to make sure this happens.
I just want to thank all the people that came to see me today. Jenna can't wait to hoop! I totally can't wait for the summer when we can utilize the park. Pretty soon we could be tossing them across the street to each other! It was nice to meet your friend too. She seemed really nice. Sorry I was so flustered. Amanda and Tiffany, one of my very favorite duos! Great to see you there, made me so happy. Amanda you have been one of my biggest hooping inspirations, you are awesome (not just at hooping) at drumming, dancing, smiling, talking and being a great friend (and more, this could turn into a really long blog if I keep going.) My follks of course who were both there under the same roof for the first time in a long time. My sister, Derek Goodwin, who I hope was able to make it, thank you again for being so amazing and documenting this stuff for me. Your work is awesome and so are you! I just relized I sound like I am making an Oscor speach, but bear with me here. For all of you who could not attend there will be many more shows. The Primate Fiascos Happy Pill Circus 2 is on for May. I will have my light hoop by then too. Also I will be hooping on May 3rd for my art opening in Northampton. You know I will keep posting my events.
So in a nut shell, it was great! Just great, fun and BIG and inspiring and how could I forget. Sassy!!! Thanks again folks!
Sincerely,
Ms. Megan

Woo Hoo
I knew it would be great. The no smoking thing is a good idea. I know how hard it is to quit, but I'm sure you can do it. |

amazing
your performance was insanely beautiful. i almost felt as if we were all under the sea in an enchanted mermaid den. with an old new orleans flavor. or something. anyway, it was way too short but you blew all the other acts out of the water.
