My Blog

I started my kombucha tea fron GT's tea. That was on 6-13 and I now have a 1/8 inch thin film on the
top of my tea. I tasted it and it was a little vinegary so I took and cooked up 1 cup sugar, 8 cups water
and boiled for 5 minutes. I turned off the flame and then added 1/4 cup oolong tea. Let it steep until
it was 80 degrees. I put the liquid that was originally in the tea in three separate jars with freshly grated
ginger, 1 teaspoon sugar and 1 T of organic lemon juice.

I purchase a GT's KT from a health food store, brought it home and added
it to some cooled tea & sugar water (I boiled the sugar water for 5 minutes
and then turned the flame off and put the tea in the water and let it set until
room temp.(2 tea bags, 1/4 cup sugar & 4 cups water)
I started it on 6-13 and it looks like it growing and has a good smell but what I'm
concerned about it is.......It is not growing in a smoo... read more

I need help to see if I am doing this correct?

3. I put the sugar in the water, in a sauce pan (4 cups water) and boiled the sugar for 5 minutes then I turn the flame off and put in the tea (lipton black, that is all I had) They were all out of organic green tea.
