I say yes, do argue over semantics. At least let us postulate that discussing semantics even as lay people is necessary. By requiring finite definitions of words that are in any given dialogue there is less likelyhood of being misunderstood. That is why, in my opinion, it is far easier to communicate by way of the written word.
