Property taxes are a regressive tax which is not only harsher on the middle class than the rich but is limited to the property owner and not generally shared across society. While decrying property taxes as unjust, the Missouri Libertarian Party believes that in the interim there should be a ceiling on the percentage of assessed valuation that can be extorted from property taxes.

The Party supports the establishment of tax free Health Savings Accounts. The money put into the accounts should be allowed to accumulate over the years so that when a major illness takes place the owner would have money to pay the costs of the illness. Interest could be used to purchase high deductible insurance.

The Missouri Libertarian Party favors the restoration of public schools to local control. When we say that, we favor the abolition of the State Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. In the last election, the Democrats dominated the elections in the city of Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas and the Republicans dominated the elections in the suburbs. In both cases, the Libertarians were the second party as the other parties did not participate.
