Mother India smiles

wow. wow. wow. india is the most amazing inspiring dirty poverty striken spiritual colorful intense awesomest place on earth. we have been traversing the north for about 2 weeks. now have made it as far as the taj on our way to rajastan tonight. we spent the last 10 days in varnasi, celebrated holi by getting attacked with paint filled water balloons. it was an all ot war of color. sailed down mama ganga and took in varnasi's breathtaking unique landscape and even more breathtaking are the people who are so privilaged to reside along her banks. dan and i are so blessed to be here. now in india, it almost hurts to think of how much time we spent in thailand. india is an entirely different world unto itself. we've been spending a lot of time reading indian activist books. indians are among the greatest most "fire in the belly" authors of our time. spent the night on the train gazing at the plump orange moon. what an inspired land this is. ahh too much to say.....

give thanks!

india awaits...

We have been chiiillllliiin in chiang mai for the past few days now. its waaay too easy to be a westerner in this town but it also has a side to it that is so quaint and full of thai culture. not to mention the cornicopia of vegitarian restaraunts and beautiful handmade everything. about a week ago we were in Laos. i imagine thailand to be something like laos 50 years ago. its very quiet there and the people still act a bit surprised to see our western faces..which is quite refreshhing and different from thailand. the rainbow gathering was AMAZING> ahh we had the best time. it was in a beautiful spot on the beach that went far back into the jungle. we met so many cool kids from all over the world. i think we counted about 60 countires, all of which brought a different energy to the gathering. we are hooked on world gatherinegs now, its so different from the nationals. so much smaller too, about 600 people at the peak. we stayed for about 2 and a half weeks and then hitchhiked north to bangkok. we had amazing luck and wound up getting one ride the entire way. i decidedly detest bangkok. its dirty and sticky and smelly and expensive bleh. the north is very nice though. there are lots of rainbow family up here right now and the weather is nice and cool. at the moment we are just...living, staying at a very cool guest house and waiting/preparing to head off to india mid february. we are very excited!!! thailand has many things to offer, but one thing it has not are any cultural challenges. its so easy here! so off to india with us, flying into calcutta no less. im sure we'll get more than we bargained for there.

big love to all back home and happy belated new year!

greetings from Ranong

we are in southern thailand now, just returned to the mainland from a week trip to koh payam. white sand beautiful beaches...more fruity drinks than we knew what to do with. right now we are staying in ranong in a funky little bohemian joint for 120 baht a night. sooner than later we are headign down to the rainbow gathering. we've run into a few cats here who have seen the site and they say it is going to be quiiiiiite crowded. the site is meant for no more than 500 people or so, should be a pretty interesting scene. from the sounds of it this gathering should be very different in that the site is not remote by any means. its looking like we'll spend a week or two there and then head north for chang mai until our visa runs. daniel and i are havign a great time out here. dan is writting some really great music. mmmmm. peace and love to all of you back home. we miss you!

we made it!

we are now in bangkok after 23 tireing hours of travel. right now we're staying on khao san road and taking in all the madness. so far the best part is zipping around the city in tuk tuks. the bangkok reality is very fast pace. we're really looking forward to traveling on to something a bit more relaxing, but until then we are eating cheap pad thai and buying cool shit for pennies on the dollar. hawaii was nice and relaxing, was great to see some old friends and live the jungle life once again. that was kat, this is dan---- WE MISSS YOU ALL AND WISH YOU WERE HERE---keep in touch and let us know how everyone is doing back home.

big love to all the family back home!
