about me
I'm a guy that doesn't get the "guy" things in life.
hockey, baseball, WWF, and shoot-em-ups don't thrill.
I'd rather sit on the couch with a loved one curled around me
And sip at tea and share a book that helps our minds be free.
I have friends who like to talk about bigger things
And often wonder how to make the world a better place
As we drink some good dark ale out by the fire
while the stars roll by in the mid-summer sky.
You might find me up on stage with my very good friends
Ever since I was young, I loved the Irish songs
And I'm so very, very lucky to have this dreamy thing
Of playing music that makes people cry and laugh and sing.
Spiritualty is important to me but I won't be nailed down.
Raised a Christian but not particularly strict.
I believe in growth and dignity and grace
But I'm not about keeping people in their place.
I like to think I perch upon a fence
because I can see many sides of any story
And sometimes that makes me stuck and grumbling
But when I get knocked off I hit the ground running.
And that brings me to where I am today.
Some big changes in the last year with two beautiful girls.
And a wonderful yummy partner who hangs out around here.
And she even helps carry all the music gear.
That last line was a little lame so I'll stop rhyming now
If you want to know more follow me around.
Send a PM and I'll write you back.
um.... fol la da diddly diddly whack. ;-)
Re: how much time is too much?

I second what Dan and Diva have said too. Setting up a date night is a good thing -- making a commitment to deal with your relationship with intent.
I have a suggestion that might help you frame your approach to this:
You may want to try ...

Re: Blair
(in Ask a Sexy Woman Anything)
Hi Myriad,
I think that's roughly what I was trying to say but I find my tongue gets tied up with my fingers :-) Expressing opinions is a good thing, attacking others while doing so isn't. If people feel safe expressing their beliefs, however e...

Re: *the universe hiccuped*
(in Ask a Sexy Woman Anything)
I realized just the other day that I used to think to myself, on a very regular basis, "I can hardly wait until....".
I was only vaguely aware that wishing for life to hurry up and be over with wasn't really a good thing. And I suppose what hap...

Re: Punctuation Wars: The Comic Book
(in Ask a Sexy Woman Anything)
The Cedillan villain OctoThorpe crushes the hopelessly aigu Ampersand.
Hmmm. Okay, they're not punctuation exactly, but I always wanted to use octothorpe in a sentence.

That's okay, I'll defend your right to disagree with me. Maybe even a lot ;-);-);-)

1.Put your music player on shuffle.
2. Press forward for each question.
3. Use the song title as the answer to the question even if it doesn't make sense. NO CHEATING!
How are you feeling today?
Fire (Bruce Springsteen) -- Oh, yeah, I'm on fire.
How do your friends see you?
The Black And Tans -- An Irish rebel song? Maybe I'm becomming a rebel. I can live with that. Maybe I'll embrace that.
Will you get married?
Heading West (Shooglenifty) -- Nope, can't make much of t...

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 23.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next three sentences in your journal along with these instructions. Don't dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the CLOSEST.
5. Tag five other people to do the same.
From Courage to Change from Al Anon. I admit, I had 5 books all within the same distance of reach but I didn't cheat and look see which was most interesting on page 23. Courage ...

This weekend is our local winter carnival.
All week, Scouts volunteers have been out making 20 huge blocks of snow in preparation for this weekend. Luckily the bone chilling weather of the last few weeks has given way to some milder temperatures along with clouds and a bit of snow.
So, today, we had a professional snow artist come out and show carnival attendees how to do snow sculptures.
This one my daugther and a Scout friend made with some help from the expert. It took about 3 h...

I went to my daughter's Grade 4 class and read "The Cremation of Sam McGee" this morning.
As part of the event, the class had prepared a bunch of questions about me -- what my work is, did I like to read, why I chose the book...
Amongst these were four "what is your favourite" questions; favourite book, favourite author, favourite sport, favourite food.
So I'm sitting in front of this class and I rattle off a list of half a dozen authors and what I like about them and five sports th...

This man is a shining star in my life. He is both typcially and atypcially male in all the best ways possible. I've never met any man more willing to listen, to grow, to think hard, to feel deeply, to make mistakes and learn from them. Life with him is an amazing and abundant journey. I thank my lucky stars every single day to know and love him and be loved by him.
