about me
For a depressed person I am happy. For an introvert I am outgoing. For an athlete I am noncompetitive.

I have difficulty with multiple choice because I do not see the world in that way. I resist confining myself to boxes - especially boxes called "about me" that suggest that I can somehow sum myself up and fit it in a text box.

My Blog

I owe Tribe a blog. I am on facebook which is short stuff. And Blogger, which is family/general interest stuff. Tribe is my space to talk about the dance stuff that my family and non-dance friends don't care about as much.

And while we're at this, I have identified that I need a name for my non-dancing friends. Like the way the Amish call the non-Amish "English" or the Wizards in Harry Potter call the non-wizards "muggles." Non-dancers need a name. At a bookclub gathering on Saturday... read more

And it landed in Seattle at the base of the Space Needle. Cues and Tattoos was in Seattle over the weekend and it was a fantastic dance festival.

My first class, with Frederique (who is absolutely adorable, by the way), was on Friday. I stood in a crowded dance studio with about 35 dancers that I didn't know. And Frederique started by asking, "You're all familiar with ATS base moves and the concept of improvisational dance?" I stood there mutely as the entire room nodded. She taught u... read more

It relaxes the audience and the performers. We were goofy and had fun and used props and it was a great way to set the tone and warm up.

5 costumes! A record for me. I have seen a few of the pictures and what struck me almost immediately is that I don't recognize myself. In my hoop costume I look like I am about 10 years old. What the heck?

My solo, which was part of a duet with Angela, went well, I think. The really great part was that I did it at all. I did not make any huge m... read more

I used to sew a lot. I bet this comes as a surprise to some people. I sewed my own clothes, curtains, picnic table sets, bags, and the best thing I have ever sewed - diapers. I made dozens of soft flannel diapers with thick terry cloth liners for my son. They were amazing!

I sold my sewing machine in a giant purge held in conjunction with my divorce. Lots of times since, I have wished that I had not done that. I later bought a machine that was not as nice, but it did the job. I made... read more

I used to dream that I had a final in a class that I forgot I registered for at the begining of the semester - so I had to take a test in a class I had never attended. This felt like that.

We were getting ready to go onstage with the Caravan piece - we were all in costume and back stage when I realized that we never finished choreographing the last part of the song. "Wait! How are we finishing the song?" I whispered. "Just improv," Michele answered. And I panicked! Ha!

Then I woke... read more
