So, this past week I learned that if you whap yourself in the face with your fire poi (#1) It doesn't hurt (#2) It is possible to singe both your eyelaashes and an eyebrow without knowing it and (#3) when you burn said eyelashes, the singed curly ends act like teeny weeny velcro. Thus, when you blink, that eye takes just a fraction of a second longer to re-open than the other eye, and it is a bit annoying.

Farewell Sleater-Kinney

I was sad to learn this morning that one of my favorite groups, Sleater-Kinney, is calling it a day. I discovered their music late into their existence, but have really enjoyed it the past few years. I have had the pleasure of seeing them live a number of times, and they always put on a completely kick-ass show. Those three women rock and they rock hard.

Their final tour is this summer and DC is one of the few cities they are hitting. 9:30 Club, Aug 1. I know I'll be there.

A reason for my first post...

So, per Mab's instruction I am considering myself tagged. Which is great, because this whole "blog" thing is new and strange and scary and I needed a reason to start it going.

Now onto the 8 things...think think think....

1 - I played the trumpet from 3rd grade thru college, but knocked out my front teeth one drunken evening and will now need to re-learn how to play once I have my final permanent crown. Dental work is way too expensive, but it will be nice to be able to eat an apple without cutting it up first.

2 - Fluevog shoes rock my world.

3 - I have got kick ass parents...really. The kind that make my friends jealous. Despite being over 60 years old, my dad kayaks and mountain bikes and my mom just got a bike, rode singletrack, took a digger (drew blood!) and is ready to get back on the saddle and ride again. I love 'em to death. Rock on M & D.

4 - I have never seen "The Sound of Music"

5 - My icon is a tiny piece of an Escher print that I have inked on my thigh. I'll show ya next time I see ya. I think it was around 24 hours to finish.

6 - I make really good stovetop popcorn...and can eat way too much of it in one sitting. Prefer it salted, with no butter.

7 - My first concert was Tears for Fears in '84 or '85 and they sucked. My most recent concert was Kusun Ensmble and they tore it up.

8 - Often I am big wimp when it comes to change, and I need to stop being that way, because really great, crazy, exciting, fun, good things can happen when you just take that jump.

Since I have 2 friends on tribe and one of them tagged me, I guess I should tag the other.

I hereby tag Kate!

And anyone else who may be reading this, consider yourself tagged, too. Lemme know if you post your reply! Thanks...
