<div>I just published new dates for both Emperor Norton's (www.ensmb.com) and Silkworms (www.thesilkworms.org/) - P and I will be doing a bit of aerials next Sunday afternoon at Zumix Harvest Festival (http://www.zumix.org/events.html), East Boston. Local neighborhood festival, lotsa kids, nice event if you feel like exploring Boston on a sunny day. (any other circus performers want to come out and be part of the show? not too late- contact them through the ENSMB website! Belly dancers and spinners (of things that look cool in daylight) welcome :) )

Emperor Norton's Stationary Marching Band has a good bunch of gigs coming up, too! Including HONK! Fest (http://honkfest.org) !
(/me wants to brush up on stilts / think stilt costume again...)</div>

<div>*peeks in* Not seeing much? My actual blog entries tend to happen over at Livejournal, where people I have met in person know how to find me. Hm, I should try and put occasional announcements here too...</div>

Burningman report 2006

<div>This year we signed up to go early and stay late, building and taking down the camp (Outpost Autosub, 3:30 and Esplanade). The rationale being that it's fun to be there with the hard core early crews and watch the empty Playa fill up. Indeed it was. And that we'd be able to relax midweek, which also pretty much worked out.

It was a good year for Autosub, things went smoothly and with no psychodrama, the Cube looked great and we had a lot of well-attended happy hours, DJ's and bands, and other events. This year's addition of the SCUL gang doing bike chopping and repair was a big hit, and it was fun to be there with a select crew of newbies who natheless were tough, ready for adventure, and had the Right Attitude. Great to connect with old friends and make new ones! Also really nice that our leaders-emeritus were able to camp with us and not do more work than they wanted... a good model for future years!

I was pleased with my expanded collection of color-changing murals inside the Cube, and the more usable undoor stripper pole with mini-stage. The new travelling silk rig got some use- we had a couple of really good open practice sessions and a mini performance or two. Managed to meet a bunch of nice performers from other parts of the country and do some skill share.

We got to be 2 doors down from the construction site of the Victorian House on Wheels, which was fun to see... and next to Entheon Village, which provided a wide variety of musical accompaniment 24 hrs a day. That did make our neighborhood a happening place to be. Overall, people seemed to be experimenting a lot more with different musical styles- are the days of "unst unst unst" over? or were we just in a different neighborhood this time? The sound camps at the ends of the city seemed less crowded as well.

Got to explore the playa a bunch and see art. Yay, art! Saw Skin, one of our favorite bands, and some circus stuff, and Copal and Ammon at the Cube!

This year i made a point of taking enough downtime so I wouldn't get overloaded, and did manage to have enough rest and no crises. I wound up still having to sleep when i would prefer to be out dancing, but listened to my body and I think made up in ability to cope, what i felt i was missing in extra late-nite fun. well so it goes, at least i fulfilled this year's personal goal of No Drama.</div>
