I am grateful for the times that Lucy shares her view of the world with me. I enjoy the ways in which she is gentle and old and young and silly and wise. I value the ways in which she holds herself sacred and the ways in which she maintains her boundaries. I celebrate the choices she makes to preserve herself and to choose carefully and consciously that which she really wants in her life.

I accept her as she is willing to present herself - and I am grateful to know her.

Lucy's presence always seems completely effortless, meaning that no matter how much time goes by, it is always completely natural to be around her again. She is a winning combination of thoughtful and sweet, yet wickedly funny and deliciously evil.

Also, whenever she comes to visit, I get to loftily tell people that "I have a friend from college visiting. She's just in town from the greater Boston area"- unless they know her, in which case it is simply an exhuberant

"LUCY'S IN TOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Lucy is the world's tallest koala bear. She is equal parts adorable, charming, and wicked and could probably convince me to do anything, even filling my ears with wax and setting them on fire.

Did I mention that she is nifty?

Also, she is the only person I allow to be taller than me, and she is exceptional at it.
