mary was born in a time when magic ruled the Earth, that's why she has it running through her blood. and not stoopid "i can make the Statue of Liberty disappear" or "watch me levitate" so called magic, but the real stuff. like pulling love out of a hat. did you know she used to pull bunnies, puppies, kitties, or anything cute and fuzzy that she could think of out of hats on the side, because that made the kids happy and paid the bills. but back on topic - love out of hats. like, "does anyone in the audience see anything in this hat?...so we all agree that there is nothing in this hat..." she waves her magic wand and then BAM! out of nowhere...LOVE. gets 'em every time.

Dear Mayor Newsom, I was deeply saddened to hear that you chose to spend the city’s money and time to paint over the beautiful graffiti and artwork found on Warm Water Cove Park. I’m not sure if you’re aim is to prevent crime or violence, but painting over artwork in drab colors certainly isn’t going to prevent either of those things, and will most likely just anger the artists, as well as all of us who love the color, vibrancy, culture, and community that these p... read more
I recently attended a workshop with a well known researcher, writer and visionary in the altered states psychology sort of realm, you know, in line with other sorts of methods like holotropic breathwork and guided meditation and such. I attended in part as someone who's on a path to self-discovery and is curious about different methods to help individuals attain greater self-awareness. But honestly, I also attended largely in part as a cultural critic (it's what I do, after all). I mean, su...

So, I've never been a fan of traditional ballet following classic storylines. I'd rather see a piece that's more innovative, edgy, modern, and typically think the standard stuff is a little lame. But I figured, hey, the Crucible's production of Romeo and Juliet will have fire and explosions and I bet they even give a nice twist to the characters. Let's go!

Well, there was less fire and explosions and character twists than I expected and hoped for, and while the show starts off with a ban... read more
