To roughly paraphrase someone, hurling two particles together head-on at nearly the speed of light to determine the nature of the Universe is like hurling two watches together head-on at nearly the speed of light, to determine how Watches work, by studying the debris traces.

Casting aside several possibly brilliant but probably not responses, I will just note the irony that the wall clock from our phone call last week died.

Actually...
Actually, it crude, but if you have no idea of what's inside, at least you get to see the gears. It could lead to more sophisticated discoveries.

By the way, that's one of my favorite paintings. It's best seen from a distance, though. Dali's strong points were his ideas, not his brushwork.
