Quotes from favorite poems

THE PHILOSOPHER
by Emily Jane Bronte

Enough of thought, philosopher!
Too long hast thou been dreaming
Unlightened, in this chamber drear,
While summer's sun is beaming!
Space-sweeping soul, what sad refrain
Concludes thy musings once again?

"Oh, for the time when I shall sleep
Without identity.
And never care how rain may steep,
Or snow may cover me!
No promised heaven, these wild desires
Could all, or half fulfil;
No threatened hell, with quenchless fires,
Subdue this quenchless will!"

UNDER THE HARVEST MOON - Carl Sandburg

When the soft silver
Drips shimmering
Over the garden nights,
Death, the gray mocker,
Comes and whispers to you
As a beautiful friend
Who remembers.

TWICKENHAM GARDEN - John Donne

Hither with crystal phials, lovers, come,
And take my tears, which are love's wine,
And try your mistress' tears at home,
For all are false, that taste not just like mine.
Alas ! hearts do not in eyes shine

LOVE
by Samuel Taylor Coleridge

All thoughts, all passions, all delights,
Whatever stirs this mortal frame,
Are all but ministers of Love,
And feed his sacred flame.

Next week I have to go to hospital for some tests and maybe openheart surgery, or the surgery might take place later and I might come home again first..

Hope everyone I met here will send up a small prayer on my behalf. I've never really had any major surgery in my life before and although I don't fear death I do fear one thing very much. I fear that I might have a stroke or something like that which might mean that although I can still feel and see and hear it won't be possible to commun... read more

And pictures in our eyes to get
Was all our propagation.

Social Pressure and Perception

Imagine yourself in the following situation: You sign up for a psychology experiment, and on a specified date you and seven others whom you think are also subjects arrive and are seated at a table in a small room. You don't know it at the time, but the others are actually associates of the experimenter, and their behavior has been carefully scripted. You're the only real subject.
