Gospel of Mary discussion group
I discovered Gnosticism a few months ago. I watched several specials on Science channel and History channel. I found all of the early christian mysticism fascinating. I feel most drawn to the Gospel of Mary and Sophian Gnosticism as it reinserts women into Christianity. It substantiates what Christians felt internally the entire time, if Jesus was so peaceful and inclusive, why does the church insert such restriction and violence? Perhaps it is the selffulfilling profecy of those of us who have been raised in a relgion we felt bound to but often disagreed with thus rejected. The hidden gospels say "see, others shared your truth, even thousands of years ago, you do not have to leave the church, you do not have to find peace elsewhere, truth is still here, but now complete." The balance of Mary, most beloved, and Jesus is truth. Negative to positive, woman to man, not dominance and dismissal but love and inclusive partnership. She, who in the face of fear, did not run from his side as the other apostles. She who first witnessed. She, who has been silenced too long. Now speak your truths, let me be a vessel from which your words may spread
