I'm Out of Dodge for the next month
Tue, March 18, 2008 - 1:03 PMI've been trying to buy a diesel truck somewhere
in the U.S. and drive it back thru austin to San Diego where i would
convert it to run on Waste Vegetable Oil. Long story short, trucks
fell through, i had to cancel plane tickets. But tomorrow morning i'm
flying to Memphis TN, buying an already WVO converted Diesel Tahoe,
driving it to Austin(10hrs), seeing family and picking up my
Grandmother and Uncles furniture left to me and hopefully maybe a little
Real Estate research. Then 3 days later
driving to SD(19hrs) for Rebecca's bday for 24hrs. Then the next day driving to
Reno(12hrs) to pick up a buddy to go snowboarding, then meet Rebecca
in Reno 5 days later when i drop the buddies off at the airport and take her to
Harbin hot springs and San Fransisco to meet friends, then drive to SD
(10hrs). Non stop driving for 3 weeks. Ugh. But i'll have a 2 door
SUV running on French fry oil, that'll be nice change.
See ya

fun what i did with the name above huh? Now i gotta make a Sigil for it.

now that's a schedule i can understand
...that's basically how i spent september through january. woulda loved to do it in a veggie car, though. gas prices lately have chained us home. lucky, lucky bastard.
oh! btw! if you're going from reno to harbin.. i think harbin's sister resort will be right on your way - sierraville hot springs. i have two words for you: geodesic dome. it's beautiful; although supposedly a bit more "family" oriented than harbin. (i've never been to harbin, though) have damn good time! ps - did you bring enough self help tapes to entertain you while driving? i think we have the "laws of attraction" laying around somewhere.... ;) |

Magic Journeys to ya
Non-stop driving, I can relate...I just bought a station wagon for the rest of my NZ adventures. Driving is tiring but the freedom is awesome.
Harbin, yay! You guys will have a terrific time, I'm sure. You know, I was born in a cabin about 10 minutes' drive away from Harbin, in Anderson Springs. (For a tranquil hour or two, drive out there, park and walk around the loop. It's 8/10 of a mile walk, very peaceful and wooded, with a creek running through the center of the loop. The Rec Area is where I spent all day, every day, every summer, swimming and moss-fighting as a child...and if you spy 11590 Anderson Springs Road, that's where my brother and I were born!) Anyway, right, Harbin! In the late '70s and early '80s my parents used to take us up there. That was back in the days when they could pick a crate of apples, hitchike out there with the two babies and trade the apples for entrance to the hot springs pools. The warm one in the center is still the very same - I even remember swimming in and out of the rings in the banister. And, of course, the hairy hippies all over the place. Not everything has changed, I suppose! Ah, memories. Anyway, have a safe and fantastic trip!! :) |

Good on you for getting the WVO-mobile. When I was shopping for Logos I searched high and low for a van that could drink biodiesel or be made to, but all the diesel vans then were ancient Ford smokepots. Might do a conversion anyway later on.
