What the hell are you talking about???
Vacation with small groups of friends or your spouse ONLY!
Fri, September 28, 2007 - 9:16 AMYesterday we traveled down to Key Largo (45min south of Miami) to do a little snorkeling. That trip took an hour and a half to get on the road. Two and half hours to get there (because we took the wrong road) just to find out that the water was too murky to snorkel in (it rained two days prior). And an hour and a half to get back (because we almost took the right road), all for just one hour of snorkeling. Does this sound like work to you or am I just complaining?
It’s a funny paradox; when you’re working all you want to do is go on vacation. And when you’re on vacation, all you want to do is go home so you can relax. But when you’re home you want to go out and do something. Restlessness sucks ass!

I feel that way about crossing the street sometimes. So what if it's a left arrow green and you have the flashing red hand? All the cars are at a standstill and the movie starts in two minutes... I'm going. But you add ONE more person to that scenario and it's a big production.

That's Why I Love Traveling Alone
I am right there with you. I often get told I am indecisive when traveling, but the truth is, I'd rather just go with the flow and allow someone else their agenda than to struggle with who wants to do what, where and when. I'm much more of a traveling companion who is happy to tag along. I've learned the hard way that I don't enjoy making plans for others who aren't always as grateful as you'd imagine they would be, and get cranky if their needs aren't met. LB has certainly figured that out. We usually have a "Shawn Day" where I pick the destination, and that's pretty good for me. (Of course, we ususally have the same plans in mind.) But when I travel by myself, I love the spontaneity of being able to make snap decisions that nobody other than I might regret. Who cares if I walk the wrong direction and have to double back? Not me. BTW... it could have been worse, you could tried driving to drive to Key West. It's usually in the middle of 7 Mile Bridge that traffic backs up right when you realize you need a bathroom *right now*.

Yeah Shawn, that would of sucked. We wanted to go to Key West but the tought of driving 3.5 normal hours (7+ family hours) made me want to slit my wrists with a spoon!
