Well, not *my* first egg, but the first one that survived, and I didn't lay it.

The was-gonna-be-my first egg was laid in the generator box on top of some oil residue. oops.
The was-gonna-be-my-second first egg was laid 'soft' and crushed by chicken feetses in the nesting box. oops.
The third, my First Egg, was laid today, found whole and happy in that same nesting box.

So there we were, realizing we hadn't gone out and done anything fun and frivolous in absolutely MONTHS.
At least, not together.
No agenda. No tasks. No shopping lists. No pressures.
Off we went!

To the north, up 101 through the redwoods to a nice hotel overnight. CABLE TV! Whoa. I was up all night catching up on my movies.

Sure, I feel like shakin' mah boot-ayayayay, but frankly, I've been movin' so fast that it's getting so that 1 in the morning feels more like 4 in the morning!!!

Which means that I'll have to furry up and shake that Booty all the harder at Electras Birthday Bash Saturday night. (and maybe a short day-visit to Lupin, depending on if I can manage to find the directions somewhere...)

And one of them is crowing?

So, start up the genny and google it.
Sure enough, some hens crow. A hormonal thing, or territorial thing. Or really-a-rooster thing.

I take a good hard look at my chickens and pick out the most likely suspect. I didn't see who it was, so I'm only guessing...
