Introducing Wind and Fingers
You may have noticed an amazing local band at recent belly dance events such as the NTMEDA Christmas Dinner /Silent Auction or the Dallas Kismet Haflas etc. and wondered just who is Wind and Fingers?
Although the members had previously performed together at local Renaissance Faires, Wind and Fingers was officially formed in November of 2007. The band is comprised of two very talented musicians who have a passion for Middle Eastern Music and embrace each opportunity to play for the belly dance community they can. The members are devoted to their art and to bringing the best where ever they play. Each member is a talented stand alone musician, but when their talents combine you get a true synergy of musical insturments and great sound for your show! Whether you need a band for ambience or better yet- to play live for a dancer- Wind and Fingers is very professional and can handle your needs!
The band is directed by lead drummer, Sean Blanck. Sean and his brother, Matt Blanck, who plays Arabic keyboards, have been immersed in Middle Eastern Music and Belly Dance for the last 20+ years. How is that possible when they are both so young? Well, growing up the sons of local belly dancer and instructor, Tatika, they started early. Sean began playing drums at age eleven and has been studying with the best and increasing his skill level ever since! He is one of the best around- just listen to him play! Matt, also a talented drummer, has taken up the Arabic keyboard and has been voraciously learning this instrument to add melody and depth to the band’s sound. With lead drums, arabic keyboard, Wind & Fingers provides solid music for all to enjoy!

Well I am trying to put together plans for my 38th b-day party. In my perfect world it would be at Al Amir in Addison and the band would play for fabulous dancers. The restaurant would be filled with lots of belly dance enthuists and so forth. Also the band is trying to get some stage time at Al Amir so if you would like to hear mid eastern tunes while you eat e-mail Al Amir and tell them your opinion. Alamirrestaurant@yahoo.com

So I was chatting with my belly dancer buddy about things I missed from the days of Scaroborough Faire. Sorry folks its definitly not the 100 degree weather or the mud. One dancer used to be into Japanese culture and knew how to walk on backs, WOW those were really awesome! The one thing I could really look forward to at the end of a long day of shows. One thing I used to do was massage dancers feet. For some reason us hand drummers have strong .....hands imagine that. Strangely though ...

Okay first let me say that these blog posts dont represent the whole bands opinions, I am just too lazy to keep a profile for myself and the band.
So the family went to the Ali Baba off of 75 and Campbell in Richardson. Super nice restaurant very clean and food was good, hummus was still no match to Al Amir's. Yeli says Al Amir's hummus is her crack addiction and I agree although you would think my drumming would beat it ha ha. Even Harrison my son liked the food so he is finally comi...
