My testimonial for Rune is simple. My first day of Mich. Ren. Fest. he was playing drum for our group and when it was announced that I would perform a drum solo, he came over to me and asked me...'what would you like me to play for you.' From that day forth I have hired him for every drum class or performance. Not only has he been a consumate professional, but he plays a rockin' drum and cares for the dancer! I feel honored to call him my friend and look forward to many years of playing and dancing together!

Babydoll, what can I say that hasn't been said already? You are without a doubt one of the fastest musical learners I have ever seen. You hear something once or twice and you know it. I can't tell you how awesome and annoying that is! :-)
You are also one of the most dedicated musicians I've known. When you aren't seeing to my needs you are stealing every second you can to practice or listen to a particularly challenging drum solo (anything from Black Drum for instance). You are a sponge and music is what you sop up.
I respect and appreciate you on so many levels: As my husband, my lover, my friend, my co-gaming geek, my musical peer, and my bestest buttafuco (don't ask, it's a stupid inside joke). I love you baby. It's me and you all the way!

ditto on kevin's comments.
and did anyone mention he has the patience and dedication of a saint? seriously.
and he's just a whole lotta fun to hang with and camp with, and he makes great breakfast potatoes.
what more can a dance troupe ask?
rune, you rock!
;-)

Rune is a serious student of the drum. He has something rare in a drummer - talent AND taste! Not only can he play well, he can play musically! That makes it official...he's a freak! A good egg, indeed.

I was walking around a ren faire one day when I heard somebody playing with a lot of style and finesse. I'm like, WTF? ;-) Turns out, it's Rune! Talk about a guy who is musical, talented, determined, dedicated, and has a lot of heart... I admit to being rather jaded in life, but Rune's calm demeanor chills the ice. In my opinion, this guy is one of the most musical drummers I have ever heard, and we all know how rare that can be. One of the best characteristics of this man is that he takes music seriously, but has fun nonetheless. I like this balance and know he's going to be one of the best drummers out there.
Just you wait and see...
Keep up the great work, Rune!!!

about me
I've been studying Middle-Eastern music and percussion since the Autumn of 2000, and I am the musical director and lead percussionist of the Carnivale Mijnoon Music and Dance Company. I also play percussion in a local Chaldean/Assyrian band called "All Star Band", and also do some drumming for my good friend and immensely talented Sitar player, Chris Freeman in his band.

Hey everybody!
I finally bit the bullet and got some doumbek classes going at a local dance studio in Pinckney, MI. They're currently every other Saturday at 2:00 pm for 1.5-to-2 hours depending on how many people come and what we're covering. The next 3 classes are on August 29th, September 12th, and September 26th.
If you're interested or you know someone who would be interested in taking the classes, PM me and we'll work you in. :)
YAY! (I've been meaning to do this for year...

Just got back from DID yesterday, and MAN was that cool. Cool people, cool music, cool performances, cool scenery, cool peacocks/goats/geese/roosters/horses/dogs, and just a cool time all around. I gotta get to practicing more - all that talent collected into a single place is really inspiring me to stop being so lazy. :)
Plus, I gotta get serious about getting regular rehearsal sessions together with my band(s).
More pics of Viggo are in the works, just not right now. Maybe in the ...

Yep, this is the first time in over a month I've been back to tribe to catch up with stuff. It's crazy how little time I have left to do stuff like just check up on my Internet stuff. Anyway, I'm just checking in to see if Tribe has crashed-and-burned or if it's still managing to limp along... seems like things are still going.
I hope everyone is well. As I've said before, the best place to find me online (and where I spend most of my precious little Internetting time I do have) is Face...

First, I just want to let everyone know they can find me on Facebook and/or Myspace (though you've got a better chance of catching me sooner on facebook - I spend more time there than anywhere else nowadays). Tribe has been pretty flaky and it's getting to be pretty annoying.
Second, as far as the drum classes go, I am putting off starting them until January as I need a little breathing room with the craziness of the holiday season, the economic suckage, and everything else.
Last, ...

Okay, I think I'm finally ready to try to start up a regular beginner/intermediate drumming class out here where I live. I'm going to be doing it out of my house at first, but if I can manage to get more than 2 or 3 regulars showing up I've got a great place to move the whole show to that won't cost a lot.
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.......
Can anybody out there make any suggestions on how I drum up (pun intended) some students? I've got some I've had in the past that dropped out after a whil...
