Taking some time off...
Hey everyone who actually reads this thing... I'm going to be taking some time off of trying to keep up with everything on tribe for a while. I know I don't post all that much as it is but I've been busy with family and work stuff so the online time has been the thing to go. Basically I'm just done trying to pretend I can do it all and keep up with the daily froth of online activity in 4 or 5 social networking sites. If you want to reach me you can PM me as I am still having all of my tribe updates forwarded to my email. You can also find me on facebook and you're more likely to catch me over there.
Have a Merry Christmas! Or a Happy Hanukkah, Joyful Yule, or Blessed Kwanzaa or whatever other way you celebrate... Just have a beautiful holiday, try to remember all the ways we are all blessed every day, and try to not be one of those crazy/ugly/mean people that we all can't stand during this time of year.
Be well,
R
Doumbek Classes
Hey everybody!I finally bit the bullet and got some doumbek classes going at a local dance studio in Pinckney, MI. They're currently every other Saturday at 2:00 pm for 1.5-to-2 hours depending on how many people come and what we're covering. The next 3 classes are on August 29th, September 12th, and September 26th.
If you're interested or you know someone who would be interested in taking the classes, PM me and we'll work you in. :)
YAY! (I've been meaning to do this for years!)

Well, *THAT* was awesome!
Just got back from DID yesterday, and MAN was that cool. Cool people, cool music, cool performances, cool scenery, cool peacocks/goats/geese/roosters/horses/dogs, and just a cool time all around. I gotta get to practicing more - all that talent collected into a single place is really inspiring me to stop being so lazy. :)Plus, I gotta get serious about getting regular rehearsal sessions together with my band(s).
More pics of Viggo are in the works, just not right now. Maybe in the next few days...
Be well everyone,
Rune
So Tribe, it's been a while...
Yep, this is the first time in over a month I've been back to tribe to catch up with stuff. It's crazy how little time I have left to do stuff like just check up on my Internet stuff. Anyway, I'm just checking in to see if Tribe has crashed-and-burned or if it's still managing to limp along... seems like things are still going.I hope everyone is well. As I've said before, the best place to find me online (and where I spend most of my precious little Internetting time I do have) is Facebook these days. Hopefully I can get around to checking out Myspace tonight.
Cheers,
Rune
Couple of quick updates
First, I just want to let everyone know they can find me on Facebook and/or Myspace (though you've got a better chance of catching me sooner on facebook - I spend more time there than anywhere else nowadays). Tribe has been pretty flaky and it's getting to be pretty annoying.Second, as far as the drum classes go, I am putting off starting them until January as I need a little breathing room with the craziness of the holiday season, the economic suckage, and everything else.
Last, I just want to get it off my chest - I love my son! I'll post a couple of pics here, but all the big updates are happening over on facebook.

Taking the plunge
Okay, I think I'm finally ready to try to start up a regular beginner/intermediate drumming class out here where I live. I'm going to be doing it out of my house at first, but if I can manage to get more than 2 or 3 regulars showing up I've got a great place to move the whole show to that won't cost a lot.SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.......
Can anybody out there make any suggestions on how I drum up (pun intended) some students? I've got some I've had in the past that dropped out after a while because of life stuff that I was planning on calling, but I'm not sure how many of them would be interested in taking new classes. It always seems like promoting yourself is the hardest thing about diong something like this. Maybe carpet-bomb likely places with fliers (like maybe bookstores, or music/drum/guitar shops, ... local community art centers? The Y maybe?
Another thought I had was to put on a couple of free local events as promotional things to get our (my) name back out there again in the area.
Is anybody left on Tribe that can help me????
Thx,
Rune
More baby pics
There, I finally got around to putting more baby pics up. If you wanna see 'em, you gotta friend me.Enjoy,
R
ps - Damn he's a cute baby!
Time for an update...
I've got a few spare brain cycles this morning so I'll post what I've got time for. :)First of all, Viggo is almost 4 months old! OMG! It seems like just yesterday I was going gaga over an ultrasound image... and now I've got a smiling, laughing, pooping baby. It's just incredible! He's healthy, and growing fast. He's already at about 14.5 pounds, but I don't know how long he is (can't remember right now). Being a papa is pretty freakin' awesome! Just the feeling when he looks at you and smiles huge just because it's you're his dad is indescribably cool.
I'm currently playing a small new Ren. Faire just outside of Frankenmuth, MI. It's a nice little faire, but let me tell you - it can get cold out in the woods up there. Especially now. Brrrrr! One of the nicest moments was when I saw at the end of the day last weekend someone had sketched me playing the Saz with one of my drums in front of me. Very cool.
I'm gonna try to post some more recent pics of Viggo up on my profile (friends only though, so if you wanna see 'em you gotta friend me).
In other news, my company's stock has recently fallen from about $30.00 per share about 6 months ago to less than $7.50 yesterday. It's mostly because of that whole crappy economy thing you've been hearing about - oh, that and the fact that the company went from making a decent profit to taking a loss in just a period of a few months. It sucks, and I fear for my job.
K, that's all I can think of for now. More when I've got time... :)
