Kids today
What has happened to our children? When did it become ok for them to verbally abuse their parents? When did it become ok for them to take and take and then say you never do anything for them? I am at a loss. What happened to respect thy mother and thy father? We stopped the old woodshed thing and now they think it is ok to be mean and spiteful and there is nothing you as a parent can do? I don't get it!! Can someone explain to me how a child can grow up and feel that it is ok to be spiteful and hurtful to his mother? Or to threaten his dad? When did it all become about them? When did they stop seeing all that you do for them and only see what you don't or won't? You can give them money and things and help them out when they need it and they will still say that you treat them wrong because you won't give them everything they ask for. When did they decide that it was their right to question or criticize those who have years of experience and gave them life? Where did any shred of gratitude go for the raising and teaching and material posessions you gift them with throughout their lives? We buy them expensive gifts for xmas and clothes and food and give them money to go out and buy them bike after bike and toys that they break and for 20 yrs of their life we give up the things we want and need so that they may have what they need and then they grow up and tell you it wasn't enough! What is going on with our kids today? Can someone please tell me?lost
A wanderer in a cage.. A horse in a corral... The freedom exchanged for friendship and a possibility... My feet miss the road so bad... Yet I have things still left to learn... Can I possibly grow roots when I have drifted for so long? I am trying... Does it matter to anyone really but me? Will I leave an imprint on your mind that will last for eternity or am I just another dandelion to blow on the wind.....HMMM>>>
How do you know when it is ok to come out of your shell, when everytime that you do someone is trying to make soup of your brain? This world seems so fake sometimes and I am just not sure what to believe anymore. I see my friends lost in the darkness and I try so hard to stay in the light and it seems as though they are just more comfortable there. It is almost as though their darkness is contagious and trying to overcome my light. It is all around me everyday. The drama and the anger and the sadness that keeps them from me and me from them. Is there anyone out there who is not stuck in a box and afraid to come out of it? I wonderDeclaration
DeclarationHey there all... My friend gave this speech at the free speech podium on saturday and I thought I would forward it to everyone as I found it very true. Please read this. Love Gypsy
My Fellow Americans,
I have been nominated by the New Age Patriots to commit our political philosophy to the written word. We have chosen the Declaration of Independence as our guide in presenting our sentiments, striving to keep with the original spirit of the document while expressing the concerns of the modern American.
Please carefully consider the concepts in the following Declaration and the future of our United States of America.
A DECLARATION OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE
March 2007
When, in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for the American people to dissolve the political commitments which have connected them with a centralized Federal government, and to assume among the powers of the Earth the shape and spirit of a democracy which reflects the inalienable rights to which the laws of nature entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of humanity requires that they should Declare the causes which impel them to make a charge of No Confidence.
We, the People, hold these truths to be self-evident, that all humanity is created equal, that they are endowed by their very existence with certain inalienable rights, and that among these are Life, Liberty, Access to the natural bounty of unspoiled land and the Fruits thereof, Clean air, Pure water and the Pursuit of happiness.
To secure these rights, governments are instituted over communities, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. The American People maintain that whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, by failing to protect these rights, it is the moral obligation of the People to alter or aboli* and institute in its place a new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing in such a form as to provide for environmentally sound behavior towards the biosphere Earth; and shall seem most likely to effect their safety, health and happiness.
Common sense will dictate that a government long established should not be changed for light and transient reasons and accordingly, experience shows that humankind are more disposed to suffer when corruption, pollution and other evils are bearable, than to correct the evil by abolishing the corruption and pollution to which they are accustomed.
But, when a long series of abuses, deceptions and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, exposes a design to reduce the people under absolute corporate despotism, it is our right and our moral obligation to throw off such government and to provide a new form of government by the People to provide for our future security. Such has been the patient sufferance of the American People and such is now the necessity which rallies them to alter or abolish the present Federal government. The history of the present Federal government of our United States of America is one of repeated deception and usurpation, having in direct object the establishment of a corporate tyranny over the American population. To demonstrate this, let the facts be submitted to a World in Peril.
Corporations, by their very nature, have no sense of national patriotism, and therefore cannot be loyal to any people or political ideology. The only obligation of a multi-national corporation is to make profit. Therefore, they exist only to exploit the population in the quest for ongoing profit.
We, the people of America, have been deprived of our inalienable rights.
The Federal government has failed to represent the American people, either as individuals or en masse; as intended by the Constitution of the United States and the
Bill of Rights. We have found that Free Trade does not guarantee individual freedom and that Federal over-legislation provides the opportunity for the Federal government to reach into the home or hovel of every American. e, the People, have been deprived of our inalienable right to the bounty of the natural world in the form of unspoiled lands, clean air and pure water.
The Federal government allows multi-national corporations to dominate and exploit the natural resources of America, and to restrict the access of American citizens to the natural world, due to and as a result of, criminal exploitation of our environment. These same multi-national corporations continue to exploit the American People through marketing experimentation and the quest for continued profit by establishing the complete dependency of the American population on corporate production and distribution for the necessities of life.
The Federal government has employed deception and evasion in order to persuade the American People to offer up their patriotism and progeny on the altar of corporate profit. The Federal government promotes military aggression and the enhancement of a worldwide ideological struggle for dominion in order to create market opportunities for, and further promote the agenda of, multi-national corporations towards globalization of the world economy and the complete domination of the People.
We, therefore, the People of America, appealing to the judgment of the natural force of the universe for the moral righteousness of our intentions, do solemnly publish and declare that the American People are, and of right ought to be, free and independent people, that they are absolved from all allegiance to a Federal government dominated in policy by multi-national corporations, and that all political connection between the American People and the Federal government is, and of right ought to be, totally dissolved, and that as a free and independent people, they have the power to reform their government, establish an ecologically sustainable and moral co-existence with the biosphere Earth and the Human Race, contract alliances, establish commerce, conduct peace, levy war and do all other acts and things which independent people of inalienable right do, and, for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine providence, we mutually
pledge to each other our lives, our futures and our sacred Honor.

lesson two
'' from attachment desire arises, from desire anger is born. from anger comes confusion; from confusion memory lapses; from broken memory understanding is lost; from loss of understanding, he is ruined. but a man of inner strength whose senses experience objects without attraction and hatred, in self control, finds serenity. in serenity, all his sorrows dissolve; his reason becomes serene, his understanding sure. without discipline, he has no understanding or inner power; without inner power, he has no peace; and without peace where is joy? A Woman's Dharma
A Woman's Dharma in Today's WorldIn today's world of broken homes and divorce, the traditional role of a woman serving her husband and children has been lost. Defining a woman's Dharma in relation to this society becomes exceedingly difficult. A woman in this society works outside the home, may not marry until she is older and has her own career, and is self sufficient. She is not dependant on a man to provide for her and therefore feels no need to serve a man in a partnership. The days of "a woman's place is in the home" are long gone, and as a result, our society has suffered an identity crisis. This paper will look at the results of a shift in duties and the need for an understanding of a women's place in today's world.
The Bhagavad-Gita clearly describes a mans duty in relation to his family, his God, his society and his inner self. Krishna details these to Arjuna throughout the readings. Very little is spoken of women. Krishna even refers to himself as the womb when he teaches Arjuna "Learn that this is the womb of all creatures" (1). The entirety of the Bhagavad-Gita speaks of man and man's role. Where does this leave women?
The essentials of Hinduism refer to women's role as mothers and wives. It does not speak of single mothers or divorced women who do not have custody of their children. It speaks of women holding high positions in government and working in other positions but in the same chapter it states: "To this day the normal Indian woman accepts marriage as her natural destiny, not in perpetual tutelage, as has heretofore been often quoted, a tutelage that commenced under her father, continues under her husband and will end under her son, but as a proper partner, not in rivalry with her husband over personal right, but bound in service with him for the welfare of the family and the nation" This statement brings to mind a time when things were not as they are now. This was a time when women were considered servants to their husbands. Even in India a women's role is not clearly defined except as mother and wife. Today, though, women are so much more than this and yet so much less. A woman can build a house, weld, work in industry, become a government official and even run for President. With all these opportunities available there is much to occupy her time. She is indeed equal to a man in every way. She works 40 hours a week and travels for her job. She buys easy to prepare meals so that the kids can take care of themselves when she is late coming home from work. All these new developments are a great asset to a society where it takes two incomes to support a family of four. A woman can make just as much money as a man and so strives to do so. With all this money they can send their children to college and retire with enough money to take care of themselves. And they will have to. They have neglected one important thing, the children.
Today's children are in a state of confusion about their role in society. They learn about life from a television. They live in a society that makes them afraid and they go to school in an environment that doesn't care about the individual. They no longer have a mother that they can run to. They spend most of their time in their rooms. They do not have the family interaction that enables them to grow in a safe environment. They eat junk food and play video games where they escape from reality, because reality is not filled with love and caring and wonder any more. They do not search for this environment in a relationship because they have never known it at home. They do not take care of their parents when they grow older, because they do not know how. They were not cherished and taken care of when they were young and so have never learned. They do not know how to be good parents because there was no one there to set the example for them. The mothers that are so revered in the Hindu religion no longer exist in the western world. A woman in today's society does not celebrate coming of age as a sacred time in her life. She is told not to marry until she is secure in her career. She does not look forward to motherhood because it may interfere with her career. She is not taught about the sanctity of motherhood and how to be a good mother by her own mother and has no place of reference. The only place that women today are taught duty is in the military service. They do not know that they have lost their power because they have never seen how powerful a mother's love can be. In attempting to gain physical power and equality with men they have lessoned themselves in the eyes of their children. Each generation moves farther and farther away from the harmony that is created when a woman is at home and happy with being a mother and wife.
The meaning of Dharma is duty. From the Sanskrit word "dhr" which means "to sustain" (3) Dharma begins at home. A woman who is a good mother to her children and a good wife to her husband sets the example for true harmony in the world. She is man's first teacher. She is woman's best example. She is nurturing and kind and so passes this on as a value to her children. She is patient and capable and shows the world how to be so as well. In loving her children unconditionally, she fosters love in the world. She is our only hope for salvation. This is her sacred duty. This is her power. This is her Dharma.
running with scissors
This brings back a lot of memories for me. Thought I would share iot with all my young friends out there . lolTO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED the 1930's 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's !!
First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant. They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes. Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-based paints.
We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, booster seats, seat belts or air bags.
Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat.
We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle. We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.
We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank koolade made with sugar, but we weren't overweight because WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING !
We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on. No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K. We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we
learned to solve the problem. We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes,
no video games at all, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound or CD's,no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet or chat rooms.......
WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them! We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents. We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever. We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and,
although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes. We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them!
Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!
The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!
These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever! The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.
We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL!
If YOU are one of them . .CONGRATULATIONS! You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government
regulated so much of our lives for our own good. And while you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave (and lucky) their parents were.
Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it?!
