Jeez! I don't think I've ever felt such an intense sun before this year. I'd been aware of it increasing it's pressure on my skin, beating down despite the barrier of sunscreen and sleeves of a white shirt. Maybe because I'm getting older, more sensitive to the sun. Maybe it's because I've never been able to quite give up tobacco. Maybe it's because I'm light skinned and years of sun burns have taken their toll. All I know is, the sun feels alot different than when I was a kid!

I'm normally a water baby, but this heat has been too intense to subject myself to the possibility of heat exhaustion, something that's already happened once this summer. I miss the pool, clean cold streams. So instead I hole up in my bedroom, AC and fan on, reading or dozing with my cats. Really not a bad way to spend an efternoon, eh?

So, my friends, if you have to be outside, make sure you've got plenty of hydration, lemons, watermelon, bananas, more water...oh and did I mention drink some water? Ice on the pulse points never hurt either. Stay cool out there! And remember, fall is just around the corner. Yippeee!
