Well, I got to try my new gorget out at Blackstone Raids. I really like the design and it was protective. It definitely gives more protection than a leather dog collar style gorget. Yet, it was not perfect. I really never realized what kind of abuse I put myself through when I take the field. Up until I met Oona I really only wore the minimum armor required and only took minor injuries and lots of bruises. So, where is this leading? learned a few things about compound curves and there are some hammer nicks. I decided to leave the hammered look instead of sanding and polishing. I feel it gives it character. It is surprisingly rigid for being only 22 gauge copper and brass. It fits perfectly and is lighter than my old aluminum one. So, why a blog about last weekend? Well it is because I was my hyper self last weekend around people who don't really know me. The wife said I did not make a fool of myself but I am not so sure.

What time is that, you ask? Well, it is time to talk about last weekend. What happened last weekend, you ask? Well, stop asking questions and I will tell you. Last weekend Oona and I went to the Storvick Baronial Birthday event. The event was a Viking Raid theme. The fighting was all melees, all day. The fighting was styled around a campaign scenario. So, I get board sitting around camp and wanted some period games to play. So last weekend I made a game board. I based it off some pre-viking and viking finds of game boards. On one side is a Tablut board and on the other side a Merels board. The playing pieces are glass and the king is a deer knuckle bone. The board is a piece of oak with the playing surface wood burned into the board.
