It's Thanksgiving.  I'm sitting in [info]topdowngeekgirl's cozy living room in Castleknock, a suburb of Dublin, Ireland with a fire in the fireplace and surrounded by friends and cats.  It just doesn't get much better than this.  I am thankful for:



Friends - I have the best friends anyone could imagine.  They are my family.



Cats - for their fuzzy, unconditional love



The internet - I guess that makes me an incorrigible geek, but I like being able to stay in touch with everyone even while on the other side of the world



My bizarre ability to earn a living without really trying



My lot in life - while re-reading Desiderata, I am reminded that

you may become vain and bitter;

for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans."



when I step back and look at my life, I have to admit it's pretty good, even when I do compare it to the amazing, successful people I am surrounded by.



My health - really, I'm in pretty good shape for an old guy



Music - I make no pretense of musical skill, but I really appreciate good music made by others.  I especially like being able to carry so much of it with me using modern technology



Modern Technology - (see internet)  Living in the US, it is easy to forget that things weren't always like they are now.
