about me
I am a stay-at-home mom, artist/crafter, and more recently belly dancer! I've been taking Cabaret style classes, since June, and WOW! lo and behold, a whole new world has opened up for me...i had no idea about ATS, Tribal Fusion, Gothic etc etc etc existed! I have fallen head over heels in love with Tribal in all it's beautiful variety...no other dance has moved me this way! I am trying to absorb all the knowledge and community i can about his magical art form!
When i am not obsessing about dancing, i am mothering, as well sewing and stitching u p all kinds of weird little skeleton ragdollies monsters, and other funky things..i truly am a creator at heart.

Re-Awaking the Fire (blog entry) So, i lost my happy thoughts for while.

I came within a hairsbreath of quitting the dance. Not because i stopped loving it...but because of a nasty combo of extended illness and family dramas, disgusting self esteem issues, and a healthy dose ... read more

My Blog

It's a bit past the "official two year anniversary" point of my dance journey. It's become so intense and amazing that i find it hard to articulate my feelings. I've gone to TribalCon (Oh my GOD, Donna Majia...life changing) and also had a Zoe Jakes, a Tempest and an Asharah workshop. I had my brain scrambled by beginning some Suhaila format drilling on top of my ongoing struggle to gain proficiency in ATS working with Natalie Brown, all the while still trying to take some time to have a few... read more

So, i lost my happy thoughts for while.

I came within a hairsbreath of quitting the dance. Not because i stopped loving it...but because of a nasty combo of extended illness and family dramas, disgusting self esteem issues, and a healthy dose of having this awful feeling that i was just not cut out for it like i thought i was. I was getting frustrated in class, feeling that ATS was so difficult that a spastic clumsy girl like me was NEVER going to get the hang of it. I never had time anym... read more

It's been a year since i first crept into the back of the classroom for my first bellydance class...i had no idea that it would become such a HUGE part of my life. Through this rather chaotic and sometimes horrible year, dancing was my one constant. Making myself leave the house and go out to do something JUST for me was very hard in the beginning...but a time went by, it became my lifeline to sanity! I became hungrier and hungrier to learn and to move. One AmCab class a week was not enough... read more

This past Saturday, i had my very first public performance with the AmCab Intermediate Student troupe. At a Rodeo Festival. On a Pentecostal Holiness Church stage. At this point it's a a blur, but i guess we did ok since no one boo-ed us or threw rotten tomatoes. As far as my first public performance goes, it could have been so much worse. I enjoy my troupe mates and instructor very much, even tho' i cannot fully "give my heart" to the cabaret style. My instructor did give me a little freedo... read more

Second week of Tribal Fusion classes with Natalie.....ooooooooooooooow! :)

So much harder on my old bod than my cabaret classes...not that they are not challenging too...but nothing like this. Added to this is my ENORMOUS frustration with myself when my muscles just refuse to do what i need 'em to do. Or when i can't "get into the groove" properly with the arabics. I so want to to be GOOD at this...and i am not completely discouraged. I'm determined! It will come with time ( i hope) Every... read more

Ms Button is not only exceptionally talented, but is also one of the most genuine, kind and all-round funky people I have ever had the chance to have contact with. You only have to look at her sugar skull dolls and tree skirts to understand how she sees magic and joy all around her. Best of all, she is so willing to share this outlook and joyful spirit that she has genuinely enriched my life. Thank you for all your support, Missy! :)
