Yesterday i went to the Rebar Bender and I feel like I've finally met "my people". There's a wonderful energy in the burner community that is hard to describe. There's an openness, sexuality, creativity and ability to completely be oneself. There's something in the eyes of a burner...a kind of clarity. While there's certainly a very flirtatious and sexually open atmosphere, it doesn't feel shallow at all. People connect. Maybe it's for just a moment, and then they'll be connecting with someone else, but time spent with burners is full of these wonderful moments.

There's also a kind of refreshing androgyny. Everyone simply cuddles together without bravado or discomfort. Though the burner scene is new to me, it feels somehow very right. I feel like I've come home. Something tells me I'm going to cry like a baby when I get to the burn.
