<div>I don't come to Tribe enough. Everyone's on MySpace or Facebook, sadly.
Well, I'm going to Burning Man for sure this year. The awesome folks who run Deviant Playground have invited me to camp with them and I am honored and excited. These are some of the most genuine and real people I've met.
Life is having it's strange twists, of course.

My current focus is on Burning Man and making an album. I finally have a decent mic and I'm in the process of writing some new songs. It's been a very long time since I've written anything. I was so much more productive when I was a young angsty twat. Life still has hard stuff, but I process it and might sulk for a little while, but I move on pretty quickly. That doesn't make for good poetry. Maybe I'll write about the transformations that Burners and Burning Man bring.

I swear, one night hanging with them is like years of therapy. It reminds me what's important and these folks see right through any masks you might try to wear. They bring me back to center.</div>

Burning Family

<div>Yesterday i went to the Rebar Bender and I feel like I've finally met "my people". There's a wonderful energy in the burner community that is hard to describe. There's an openness, sexuality, creativity and ability to completely be oneself. There's something in the eyes of a burner...a kind of clarity. While there's certainly a very flirtatious and sexually open atmosphere, it doesn't feel shallow at all. People connect. Maybe it's for just a moment, and then they'll be connecting with someone else, but time spent with burners is full of these wonderful moments.

There's also a kind of refreshing androgyny. Everyone simply cuddles together without bravado or discomfort. Though the burner scene is new to me, it feels somehow very right. I feel like I've come home. Something tells me I'm going to cry like a baby when I get to the burn.</div>

Ready to Burn!

<div>Hmm...it seems I haven't been keeping up on my blog here. I tend to post mainly on my myspace at myspace.com/omnithought

So, I went to the newbie burner event in Mesa last weekend and learned some good stuff that I hadn't read online. There was a lot of great and practical info and some really good people. Some of the "veterans" of Burning Man (dare I call them elders?) were Scotto, Naked Mike, Ruvi, Chromatest, Blank, Wild Child, and a few others. I soaked up the info like a sponge and now I know to vinegar and lotion my feet, carry extra ziplocs for things like condoms, the ways and means of dry ice, and a lot more.

Gingher, a stunning tattoed amazon, made some kickass salsa. Very spicy! I talked with her boyfriend for a bit about chilies and the wonders of Thai food. Ian, a man in an American flag kilt and shirt with a hat covered in buttons was very laid back and good to talk with. Ruvi was very friendly and helpful, with a warm, kind energy. Chromatest is perhaps the most confident dude I've met. He knows how to live and is very grounded in who he is. Scotto was enthusiastic and very friendly, making sure to make everyone feel welcome. Naked Mike was calm and serene, seeming to keep an eye on his place, and maintained a mellow, sincere energy. Wild Child was very warm and kind and had a kind of sister/mother energy, providing a field of happiness around her.

In fact, there's something I really noticed about the Burners who have gone for a few years. They carry themselves with an open confidence and they know who they are. They tend to have no drama or bullshit, which is greatly refreshing. I feel like I've finally met "my people". They are do-ers, creators, movers, builders, artists, and wonderful freaks.

The ones who have been going for several years tended to be more open, very grounded, and completely unruffled by anything. They were friendly and inviting and seemed to be very consciously creating an inviting space for newbies to wander around in, watching us peeking out of our shells. The ones who had only been once or twice seemed a bit cliquish, but not terribly so. Just not as grounded and open as the "elders".

Scotto and a couple others cooked up some damn good "trash can turkey" by laying out large, thick sheets of foil and placing the turkey on it. They took a clean metal trash can and placed it upside-down on the turkey, and then wrapped the foil over the edge. They then put hot coals around the can and on top of it. After a couple of hours we had juicy, perfectly cooked turkey.

It was really interesting watching everyone's interactions with each other. For some time I'd just sit and observe. One girl was quite comfortable in her skin and nothing else. Having been to rainbow gatherings and the like, it didn't faze me, but it was funny to see how some were trying to adjust. It was good to see several people so comfortable and open around each other that they could strip and swim and not worry a bit about what others thought. I'm not yet that confident, but perhaps the Burn will help me through that.

I sat for quite some time with Ian, Gingher and her boyfriend (Jim, I think?). There was lively sexual conversation inside, but I was feeling more mellow. I sat and watched a slideshow of pics from previous Burns and enjoyed my buzz from the several beers I'd had. I left quietly, and headed off to meet my friend at the 18th anniversary of O'Connor's pub and actually won a game of darts for once.

The newbie event has finally rekindled my motivation to prepare for the Burn. For the last few months I've just been kind of blah about it, even though I've been wanting to go for years.

I ordered a bunch of glowy/blinky stuff online, and also got the Pignose guitar with the amp built right into the body of the guitar. I'll be running around playing that, as well as kicking back in camps and playing some nice stuff as background while people chat. Perhaps we'll get some singing going.

I also hit a few thrift stores and found a long mustardy/greenish trenchcoat. I plan to get some furry fabric and make cuffs and other decorations, including some glow paint.

Now, I just need to find a bike...</div>

<div>I have just published a site that is a hub of all things Bill. It has almost all of my writings since about 2005 in the rants section, and has links to all my profiles on MySpace, LiveJournal, OKCupid, tribe.net, and more.

Music, video, poetry, songs, etc will be added soon. http://www.omnithoughts.com</div>

<div>I've been away from tribe for a couple years, and now I've created a new profile since I'm not the same person that I was in the old one. No, you silly fuckers, I'm not schizo, just changed a lot in the last couple years.

I'm mainly back because I took the plunge and bought a ticket to Burning Man for 2008, and this is one of the best places for info. I'm looking to make some new friends and get out of my hermit shell and make life a blast!

I still tend to communicate a lot through MySpace, so if anyone wants to hit me up there, its: myspace.com/omnithought

I'm currently in a big fat shifting phase of life right now, shedding a lot of old beliefs and habits and trying on some new ones. Let's just hope I don't end up looking like a nun. (You may groan now)

I'm ready for a life of fun, adventure, awesome experiences, great people, and total exploration. </div>
