Stolen Car

   Tue, January 15, 2008 - 2:21 PM
So here is my story of the last 24 hours.

Monday is my usual day off. Once school starts I'll have a class on Mondays then belly dance, so I don't work. Well, the other dog trainer at the 1st and Wadsworth PetSmart was sick yesterday. So I was called in to cover one of her puppy classes.

Around 3:45 I get to work, punch in, teach the puppy class. Then I was gonna race home, feed my dogs, then get ready and go to belly dance. I walk out the front doors at 5:00, and my car is gone. I actually had to walk over to the parking spot void where my car once was and literally feel around for it... just in case it had magically turned invisible or something. Nope. It's gone. It had been stolen in the ONE HOUR I was at PetSmart on my DAY OFF. Wonderfully ironic.

After calling my Mom and making sure that she didn't come pick it up for some reason, I called the cops and did the whole filing a report thing. My folks came to pick me up, and then took me out to dinner. (Thanks for the offer for the ride to belly dance last night Jo! It was 6 before my parents got there to pick me up anyway though... ho hum).

So we go home, and I'm all mad that I didn't get to go to dance class. Yadda yadda yadda... I go to sleep.

5:30 am this morning, my phone rings. A Denver cop on the other line tells me my car's been found and it's at the Denver Impound lot. Go on with my morning... I go to the impound. I was lucky: it wasn't beat up, it was facing outwards (the reverse doesn't work), and it started right up! They did take my stereo system and the three CDs I had in there - Three Days Grace, Le Serpent Rouge soundtrack, and Blackstar.

So $100 later I get my stolen car back and drive it home. At least there was nothing of any great importance in there. Just those few CDs and the stereo. At least it was only gone for 12 hours, and it looks like they just drove it from A to B, took the stereo, and ditched it. So I have my car back! It needs to be cleaned out, but it's home safe with mama.

To my belly dance sisters: I'm not avoiding you girls I promise! Last week the snow kept me from coming, yesterday it was my car being stolen, and next Monday I'm busy all day. Then I guess the 28th there will be no class, so... I'll see you in February! Whaaa! I miss you girls!

Speaking of that, who wants to set up a practice time with me? A set time each week? I need it.

Stef.

Glad you got your car back mostly safe and sound. It sucks when things like that happen, but it could have been so much worse. We miss you, but things happen and we'll be there waiting for you when your schedule clears. There is a hafla in Loveland this weekend at Lawrence's and Phoenix is having a hafla at the D-Note on the 26th, so maybe you can make it to one of those events. Hugs and smooches to you!

Update
The bastards stole my jumper cables too. Seriously.

Dian, I really want to go to the Loveland hafla, but I'm going to watch TribalTique perform instead that night at the Pink Elephant Room! Next month I'm really gonna try to make it! Glad you girls will still be around when I can get back to class :)
