Gender
Male
Age

about me
I have been playing the hammered dulcimer ("American Santoor") for over 9 years. I forgot how long I have been playing percussion for, but I started taking it more serious after my wife took up bellydancing a couple of years ago. I also play the celtic harp (more like own one), Irish bouzouki (Gg-Dd-aa-ee tuning, btw) because it is more versatile than the Greek one. My list of percussion instruments are: the Arabic tablah, riq, frame drum (or "tar" ?), regular tambourine and the cajon (mine has a snare).

I love to play for dancers whether it be folk dancers or belly dancers. I am now officially the "in--house" drummer for Aalim Dance Academy.

You can hear samples of my music at my MySpace page (I also have more photos and a blog too): myspace.com/dustinjcooper

Re: Issam Houshan signeture Riqq (in Middle Eastern Percussion) (I hope no one thinks I am trying to derail the conversation, but since this is not out yet, I did not think it deserved a topic all itself yet)

I talked with Souhail Kaspar a couple of days ago (since he is going to be here in OKC all next wee... read more

Re: Anyone have or try the Remo Soloist EXTERNAL tuning doumbek? (in Middle Eastern Percussion) The ones that Issam brought to Dallas (the red ones) sounded and felt really good to me, which was really surprising. I thought for it being plastic and paper material it would be light, but this sucker was heavy.
