about me
I'm a graduate student again. New school, new city. There are so many things I don't fear, it's almost a surprise to realize I have all the same new kid first day of school stuff to deal with.
I was, nominally, a college professor 01-08. I started teaching as an apprentice during my Master's program. I taught critical thinking to first year undergrads for three years ...at least I tried to. Before that I taught writing, literature, and technical writing. I'm also a technologist, build web sites, and etc., etc. If you need an editor, designer, or something built on the web, try me -- note that I am going to be a bit overbooked at times, though. It's been a rough past few years. I woke from a life of walking sleep to find things were not as they should be. Among other changes, I have now been separated for a year. And I'm looking forward to my Ph.D. work and joining the research community at RPI. Moving this summer, that's less of a joy, but I think I'll manage. Though I was born in the US, I grew up elsewhere.

I'd like to introduce to my friend, Theo Martey, if you haven't met him already.Theo is the director of the Akwaaba Traditional African Drum and Dance Ensemble based in Manchester, NH. Theo came to the US as a young man, much as I did. Of course, the stories are otherwise quite different. I'll be relocating to NY state in the future to being my Ph.D. work at RPI. I'll live in or around Troy, NY, it's likely. The move must be complete before fall.
