about me
I am a Rinzai zen monk/priest living in San Francisco, California where I was born and raised in an Italian-American family. I have practiced in both the Soto and Rinzai zen traditions in the United States and Japan. I was ordained in 1992 in the Myoshinji Zen lineage of my teacher and friend, Zenyru Nagagowa. I did further practice at Jishinji Monastery in Kyoto, Japan, with Zenyru in 2000, finishing formal Dharma work. I'm currently involved with my group here in California, do hospice work and hang out with homeless folks. I have a somewhat irreverent sense of humor so I beg your forgiveness beforehand. My teachers have all been radical types so I guess you could say I'm in a "bad boy" lineage. Lots of love to everyone.

the words, pig's soft food, no longer translatable.

He must have been weary of preaching the dharma
to whores, kings, and thieves.
How often would he hear
the grumblings from monks upset at women among them?
Perhaps next time he would keep quiet about the miracle
under the fig tree, or teach only ... read more
