Dear Venice livers and/or Venice lovers, A brand new series of free concerts is in the works. The concert series will be taken place in "skate park", Venice and will be free. The only issue the organizers are running into is complaints from ONE neighbor. This neighbor is actress Anjelica Huston and her husband who live on Winward Circle, foot steps away from the boardwalk. Anjelica and her husband's argument is that "they have the right to walk out of their house and have silence". In other words, they are fighting to have this free concert series shut down before even started. The concert organizers have humbly tried to reason with Anjelica and her husband, trying to work out a way to make everybody happy, but they are determined that they do not want a bunch of concerts outside of their house. Please come and support The Venice Concert Series by attending the Venice Neighborhood council meeting tonight July 15th at 7PM. Fundraiser party for homeless in Santa Monica/Venice

The Leon and Mary Fields Foundation~Do Something Saturday~ is teaming up with the Peace Through Touch Foundation for a fundraising mixer. Sunday, April 29th from 1~9PM at the Village in Santa Monica, located at 149 Bay Street, Santa Monica, California, 90405. The cost is $25 per person and $5 drinks. There is a free buffet provided by Justus Catering. Our entertainment will include vocalist Amae and dance troupe Evaluna. Our DJ’s for the event will be .NICK.the.NECK., Dave Sweeten, Ruff Hauser and Stephan, Shee and Jupit3r. There will be a silent auction with art work from a homeless woman here in Santa Monica, as well as art from Gina Bernardini, Krystal~Bells~the~clown and others. Since February 3, 2007 Kengi and the Do Something Saturday~that empowers people have helped to provide clean clothes, toiletry items, support services, nutritious meals, sleeping bags, blankets, bus passes, airline tickets, bus tickets, job assistance, computer skills, laundry services, haircuts, transportation and many other valuable services to homeless people here in the Santa Monica and Venice areas. In addition to the outstanding array of services provided to homeless people the Leon and Mary Fields Foundation also sponsored over 100 low income/at risk kids with Easter Baskets through donations from some very generous people. The Leon and Mary Fields Foundation has also provided over 40 meals to seniors citizens. Next week the foundation will begin teaching a free computer skills class at the Vera Davis Center in Venice. Your contributions to the Leon and Mary Fields Foundation have been a huge blessing to the communities we serve and we are thankful to you for them. In order for us to continue this work we are asking for your support once again. However this time, we are asking you to attend our mixer and have a great time. Meet some great people who have worked very hard to make my foundation and Do Something Saturday~that empowers people a complete success. With so many programs closing or just missing the mark my foundation strives to bridge the gap. This is a very big gap and it requires a lot of work. I just wanted to say thank you to all of you beautiful people who donated food so that we could feed over 60 people this past Saturday. Thank you Andrew for the meat. Thank you Brooke for the potatos (you weren't kidding when you said big bag. We still have some left) and all the other veggies you brought. Thank you Justin(Impboy) for bringing the cream and foil pans. Thank you Kimari for the eggs and veggies. and of course thank you Kengi for helping me cook, serve and in general make this happen. If anyone ever wants to donate any type of food, clothing, soap, etc, please let me know. We accept donations anytime you'd like to donate. Kengi, Kimari and I have all posted this blog which has been up for almost 48 hours and only one person has offered her help. Thank you Kimari! Brookelyn, I know you're posting today...thank you! It saddens me that there are so many people who have read our blogs, but have yet not offered their help. All we are asking for are food donations...anything on the list...weither it's everything, or just one small thing. We are doing all the cooking and serving. This is a great way of giving back to life, for everything that has been given to you AND we are making it so easy for you to do so. Here's the repost...PLEASE, we need your help... We need things for Saturdays dinner. Please repost this in your blog. You can pick what you would like to donate. Plastic forks, knives, spoons Napkins Food containers, if you can get the non foam kind this would be great.
