the right to live? no new news really

I believe it is commonly recognized by various institutions that humans (us, if you're reading this) need 3 things to live. Food. Water. Shelter. The first thing the bill of rights says is that we have the right to life.

Once upon a time, we had these things. Food comes out of the groung just about everywhere. Water, the same. Shelter with a very little imagination applied is also widely available. So what's the problem? How can anyone be poor, how can anyone starve to death. Why do we have to ask permission to be alive? Please bank, can I have some food? Can I have some water? Can I have a house? It's not even the banks land!

My Grandfather told me that electricity, water, telephone, all used to be owned by the government and it was very affordable becuase they were opperated not for a profit but as a public service. Water's the last one left for us but other humans elsewhere aren't so lucky. Water is the in targets for privitazation. I don't want to pay to be alive. We have right to life. How can we exersise that? Any suggestions? One organizations is trying to get the right to water added to the UN bill of rights. I doubt that will help but i signed it. article31.org/ you can too if you like. But really i want to know what do you think we can do to get our first inalienable right back.

I'll sign and definitely wish for a solution on this issue of 'new world water' and food dependence. I'm all about growing my own, but owning a house would help that situation desperately...Community gardens may as well. I'll have to check back in to this blog later when I come back home...Was just about to sign out when I read and wanted to at least shout an A-Woman, sister.

I signed it right away... It's just awful to think SO many people don't even have access to the basic things needed to live.
Or that so many of us have trouble affording the very basics!
Thanks for posting this Michele! Big hugs to you!
