This democlip, finally published to share with the world, proudly belongs to Palestine-Ecuadorian dancer/performer/instructor Neme Quintero Touma's "Danzarabe", First Professional Bellydance Academy in Guayaquil, Ecuador, to which my mother Josefina de Lara and I have been honored to work for making the skirts for their annual galas. I helped the first two years, now I moved to Olympia and my Mom works by herself, as the official seamstress since the first time Neme produced the gala as a graduation requirement for the school year in 2003 (thank you Lore for inviting us to be a part of it!). This clip is from the 2005 show, titled "Harakat", and this was the first year my mother worked by herself. She made about 140-160 skirts in less than two months. She made 60 of the white skirts for all the academy students and the director for the opening and closing number. When I saw this clip it brought tears to my eyes, just seeing my mother's effort being all over the net for millions of people to appreciate it! Not to mention the pride that I felt knowing that in my hometown there's THE top quality instructor (She comes from the school of Amir Thaleb) striving to defend and have this beautiful Dance recognized as a legitimate art form. I'd like to take the opportunity to congratulate the Academy on its 10th Anniversary this year, and am so proud that my mother is a part of it, she is considered part of this warm family of amazing dancers.
